my sub bass just sounds wrong to me!

Post by thierry_le_dj » Tue Mar 15, 2011 6:33 am

i've been playing around with my sine bass for sometimes but every time i try to make a normal sine under neath a mid range bass or even by it self it gives a big booom sounds instead i was a normal proper sub that i can feel for some reason the sub is only on the 1st kick then it cuts off by the 2nd kick
am not sure why its doing that and what i am doing wrong

for example check it here on this track from 1:52
Soundcloud
the bass here at 1:52 sounds like a big booom but i just want a normal sub vibe, straight sine bass

anyone know whats wrong with it?

It sounds to me as though you have clashing frequencies.
Check that you don`t have overlapping bass frequencies in the same range playing at the same time.

What I`m meaning is, do you have the bass note starting while the previous note is playing?

Yeah check your amp envelope. Its got some decay. turn your sustain + Decay all the way up, then it wont loose its initial volume after the attack
