Anyone got an MPK?

Post by benjam » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:51 pm

Hey hey ive ordered a second hand mpk49 but ive read of people having issues using it with FL and on windows 7 64bit.
Im running both so its sounding like it might be a pain. Has anyone got one and had any problems? Cant seem to find any info anywhere online so cheers for any help.

not sure about FL but I have an Akai APC40 and an Akai LPD8 and they both have been amazing little items. Just plug and played and worked great so if its an Akai I would guess it would be great quality, not sure though.

yeah I'm using windows 7 64bit just like you the only difference is I'm using Ableton live 8 but I don't think that should be too big of a deal.

I had an MPK49 but I use Logic and it worked with no problems. But the drum pads on it suck a fat dick, even after taking it apart and trying to clear some of the clearance from the pad to the sensor, they still sucked.....So I sold it.

I run win7 and FL with an mpk49 and the only problem I have is sometimes it takes a second for FL to recognize the controller, or i have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to fully function

But other than that there were no problems installing? Did you have to make your own mapping preset btw?

No other problems it works like a charm. Making my own mapping preset would be kind of pointless since I only use it on usb power and it loses the presets anytime I shut my comp off, but it works just fine on the generic preset. I generally map everything myself anyways (parameters on fx, cutoff, lfo speed, etc.)

You really will love it, it's great. I even use it to DJ w/ traktor :cornlol: until I get something more suitable for that. The pads are pretty stiff, but they are definitely usable to me. A few things that have helped me along the way; if you use Slicex then you need to assign all your samples to only white keys (an option under the ABC button) to trigger them with the pads. Also, the Layer channel type is your friend. Hope you enjoy :Q:
