well... this is all rather homosexual
Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK............
Basic A made some nice points.
I don't think the new system works logistically at all. The Sticky threads were some of the most active and useful on this board, and they accomplished exactly what they were there to do. I think the Dubs forum is a messy nightmare now, WIPS mixed with finished, no uniform headings, and not to mention the inefficiency of using subtle "icons" to differentiate between everything... not that any of that would make a difference in feedback results, no one is going to take the time to open up all those individual threads either way just to peep some WIPS.
With the sticky threads it was EASIER and more EFFICIENT to share/listen/comment on tracks, it just makes more sense to have one sticky thread with pages of multiple embeds and feedback rather than having HUNDREDS of individual threads that you have to open one at a time... I got way more feedback using the sticky threads. With those threads you HAD to leave feedback on two tracks before you posted a track of your own (which made it so everyone posting was also listening and commenting) now there is just one board FILLED with hundreds of threads containing WIPs/Finished tracks, which are being bumped incessantly because there is barely any listening/feedback going on.

(my opinion.)
the dub section IS A CLUSTERFUCK
FUCK
like seriously not even going to use it at all because it is inefficient and I feel like it's almost like a complete waste of time.

So have you guys made a decision about this yet? or are you gonna keep it the same? I got a WIP but I'm kind of hesitant to post it in dubs
Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK *poll insid
Post the wips to me
by posting wips to me you agree to me selling them as my own and makeing hugggee profits and not give you any
Seriously, im happy to do feedback for feedback... but i feel like a whore when i say that

i'd left it with ledge to sort out a WIP thread in here but it's not happened yet so i'll make one for youAllNightDayDream wrote:So have you guys made a decision about this yet? or are you gonna keep it the same? I got a WIP but I'm kind of hesitant to post it in dubs
i'm still not 100% convinced and even you guys don't seem to be able to come to a majority concensus but will try out a sticky again in here again
tracks for feedback will still go in dubs but anything unfished can go in the sticky in here. as for the icon system in dubs it would work well if either the posters followed it or the mods edited the posts - but so far neither's happening properly and i've not got the time to edit them all myself regularly
i'm going to unsticky this thread but if anyone has any helpful feedback (postive or negative) then please either bump this thread of PM me or one of the releavant blue mods
not the most helpful of attitudes. i realise it must be annoying if you're giving out feedback and getting none in return but trading of feedback is half of the problem imoFbac wrote:Seriously, im happy to do feedback for feedback... but i feel like a whore when i say that

Fair point, and i agree feedback for feedback proberly is one of the problems on places like here.
*it proberly wasnt clear but i was refering to allnightdaydreams post , and was thinking if they didnt want to post in dubs yet id have a listen and then pass them a track of mine. should have quoted to be fair.

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK
I like it how it is RIGHT NOW.
WIPs in here, where the producers can collectively share ideas, and finsihed dubs in dubs, where people like me who want ntohing to do with production advice can listen to finished's and enjoy forum dubs when we're bored.

can't we just get a WIP subforum and get rid of that damn thread. ffs wasn';t i the one who originally started the shit anyways?
Re: Production forum IS a place for feedback (again)
the feedback thread is dead! While I have ur attention please check my soundcloud below.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Re: PRODUCTION FORUM IS NOT A PLACE FOR FEEDBACK *poll insid
Not totally, there are some guys on here I happily swap feedback with (hi ledge, hi whyrez, hi deadly) ... but its because I know i can count on the lot of them to be brutally honest... Best way to hone your skills is to get other ears in on your stuff, but thats the thing, when people on DSf say feedback they dont mean feedback, then mean 'comments' ... which is lame as hell. if your seeking out feedback from other producers it should be about things like cross-soundsystem translation of tunes, mixdowns, creative direction and ect... actual conversations, about both positive and negative things... I get fed up with the circle jerks of 'This is what i liked about your tune' though... shouldnt stop at what you like... but it does with some people on here, because they want positive comments in return. As said above, hell with that, and the guys who ask me for feedback know to expect brutality about both the good AND the bad. Theres nothing wrong with me expecting technical brutality in return, I worry when people dance around the negative phishing for comments though, circle of lies.badger wrote:not the most helpful of attitudes. i realise it must be annoying if you're giving out feedback and getting none in return but trading of feedback is half of the problem imoFbac wrote:Seriously, im happy to do feedback for feedback... but i feel like a whore when i say that

Re: Production forum IS a place for feedback (again)
that's why i hate that a thread intended for helping to sculpt an idea you may be stuck on as it's initial intention, turning into a massive circle jerk and no real feedback due to people worrying about others getting their feelings/egos hurt or just fishing for comments/compliments
Re: Production forum IS a place for feedback (again)
I for one try to offer helpful feedback, I have no boundaries. I won't rant on someone like a dick but I do it to help.

This is it!eldoogle wrote:I won't rant on someone like a dick but I do it to help.
End of the day - as long as its constructive I see no harm in butchering what so ever! Like Basic said a few posts up.. When I give him feedback I am brutal! You should run through a tune and be like.."heres what works".. "these bits don't" "heres my advice for things you can add/take away" most of the time when I give feedback its at least a 6 sentence paragraph.
ANd if the guy who made the tune can't handle that, then they shouldn't post up their tunes.
-most- people will build their own network up eventually and thats why you don't get certain people posting in those threads unless they want a strangers opinion.

nothing wrong with negative feedback as long as it's constructive but that shouldn't dissuade people from just commenting. some people may have no idea about production related feedback but it doesn't mean that their opinion is worthless in saying whether someone likes a tune or not
if people want it then it can be done with a few clicks but there's not been a majority that want it so far
we could do yes, but the poll wasn't convincing either way tbhdeadly habit wrote:can't we just get a WIP subforum and get rid of that damn thread. ffs wasn';t i the one who originally started the shit anyways?

Re: Production forum IS a place for feedback (again)
the lines kinda get blurred between a dub and a WIP cuz a WIP could be anything from a bass patch or something, to an unmastered tune.... but the majority of amateur dubs are unmastered and a little less than polished... in fact, the few that truly come across as finished tunes really stand out in quality above much of the rest. also there seems to be a great deal of posts that are neither soliciting feedback nor giving away a tune, but are simply self-promotion.. which is fine..
but anyway my point was gonna be, maybe instead of a WIPs subfo, it could just be a FEEDBACk subfo, with any bits of audio being welcome, from a patch or a 16 bar loop, to a pre-mastered or pre-arranged bounce of your project. The only requirement being, you're here seeking real technical or creative feedback, with CRITICAL discussion about the audio presented. Could turn into a whole discourse with several users comparing/discussing multiple audio samples.
Dubs would be lifted of the feedback burden, and would only be welcome for those pushing completed dubs seeking promotion or giving away their track
thoughts?
