[Feedback] beginner dubstep

Post by shakke » Sat Mar 19, 2011 8:54 pm

Hopefully this is the right place to put this, sorry if it's not.
Anyway this is probably the 3rd or 4th song I've ever made, hopefully it's not too awful. I used FL and Massive.
I'm kinda stuck on it, not sure where to go from here.
Constructive criticism would be awesome, thanks.

Hi just listened to the track and thought of a few points good and criq.

The drums are nice i like pattern you have, but im just not sure it fits the feel of the track, also are you sidechaining as they sound quite lost in the mix.
When you bring in the wobble with the synth and piano notes everything sounds so busy, you want every sound to be clear as crystal. I think this is a eqing problem. I aint to great myself with eqing but hit up the production board and im sure there's many threads in there offering tips.
1 last thing id say is that some of the piano notes arent musically in the correct key, i cant explain what i mean properly but if you listen i think its th elast to notes of the patern feel that they should be on different notes. Maybe thats just me though.

All in all this is a good effort and deffinately not awful atall its a good concept and yes it does need work but seeing as this is only your 4th track im very impressed with it. Music production is a very hard thing to pick up im sure skream, benga etc are still learning new things all the time. Just read up on things, watch youtube clips and most impotantly learn the synths and the daw and you'll be banging out tracks in no time.

I hope this helped, keep it up and ill look forward to hearing some more of your tracks.

Yeah bro you don't need to make your piano so complicated, just plug in a higher note at the end of the basic piano pattern every so often and it sort of varies it. Btw, what sound are you going for? It'd sort of help us give feedback.

I honestly don't know what kind of sound I was going for. I just put things together I thought sounded good as I went, lol.
Is that bad?
