The Dungeon Sound

Post by Sageon » Sun Mar 20, 2011 10:43 pm

There's a lot of producers making this sort of style, which is nothing but a good thing. Youngsta is obviously the don of the dungeon, just wondering if there are any producers that many people aren't aware of making this vibe. This thread can be a collection of suggestions and clips for anyone into it.

Artists like: Kryptic Minds, SP:MC, LX One, J:Kenzo, DJ Madd, Lurka, TMSV, Benton, Icicle, Ben Verse, Sleeper, District, V.I.V.E.K., Antics, Subreachers, Thelem, Triky.

Update: 16 Aug 11

Five months later this thread has grown beyond the response I could have dreamt of. Big up to every participant and contributor. With tens of thousands of views, I think it's time to highlight more artists and tracks in order for them to gain more renown and acknowledgement.

Beforehand, I feel it necessary to point out that the intention of this thread was to NEVER further pigeonhole this sound into its own genre, it was merely a collection of artists and tracks that fit into the description. Toast's "deep, dark, dungeon sound" seemed to be the slogan for what Youngsta plays and it was a way of people recognising that this was what this thread was all about.

So, in the original thread I missed/since found: Biome, Commodo, Compa, Soap Dodgers, DCult, Fused Forces, Collision, Dr Hugo, Killa, Instict, Coleco.

HERE is the thread used exclusively for mixes that encompass this sound.
Furthermore, I now co-write Trusik Dubstep with Alastair [skeley69] where we endeavour to expose this vibe.

Ez all,

Sageon

I found that whilst looking to see if this thread had been posted before. Brilliant example.

Also, isn't Freeze an alias of Icicle?
