Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
charles darwin is a shit writer compared to the guys who put the bible together, so I haven't bothered reading his stuff.

Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
I'd never mock someone for their religious beliefs, but there's a difference between choosing not to believe in evolution, and simply being to stupid and ignorant to even comprehend it.
Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
Same. I've never gotten my head round the creationist theory when it comes to biology. Religion, fine. Believe whatever. But discounting evolution is just madness.

Okay the students sound a bit thick - but no thicker than most of the kids at my school. The teacher in that video says nothing objectionable to me he seems pretty reasonable...
think the title of the youtube video is a bit of an over reaction.

Are there kids at your school who suggest that black people are a different species to white people?(Pada) wrote:Okay the students sound a bit thick - but no thicker than most of the kids at my school. The teacher in that video says nothing objectionable to me he seems pretty reasonable...

Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
Maybe, but when you consider that these people had the ear of George W and still have the ear of a lot of people in power or even are people in power, then that's when it gets scary.(Pada) wrote:think the title of the youtube video is a bit of an over reaction.
I have experienced 'Bible college' first hand. Now THAT was some scary shit.

what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

i totally get whats hard to understand about evolution, but to deny the existence of it is madness. "Couldn't evolution be the answer to how and not why?" (Richard Dawkins...okay Stan Marsh)bright maroon wrote:Yeah - that was bad...

Given some of the people who I've ever met who support creationism, you'd think they'd be used to dealing with mutations.bright maroon wrote:

i'd just like to remind everyone that at one point, it was scientific "fact" that the earth was flat.
take everything unproven with a grain of salt. and just because it "makes sense" doesn't mean it's bottom line fact.
evolutionist crazies are just as bad as creationist crazies.

Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
nah, non-argument for me. To compare what is 100% belief to something with insane amounts of physical evidence is a non starter. I see your point of course, and I for one have always been less taken by evolution than alot of people (although, "the greatest show on earth" is currently steering me otherwise lol) but nah.south3rn wrote:i'd just like to remind everyone that at one point, it was scientific "fact" that the earth was flat.

Oh, and ive got all the time in the world for any belief. But science doesn't.

Re: Creationist 'science' classroom
here's a difference...
a scientist can handle some fairy/folk tales...
a creationist will have problems paying for the medical research..
or I shoud say - it will be a pain in the ass convincing a creationist to fund medical research.
unless they are dumb - and can't see the hypocrisy in their own investment
or maybe they're ballsy and just want to take a gander...
go ahead - add a few more possibilities - I can see them..creationist moderates
