KEEP YOUNGSTA'S SHOW

Post by alextheswede » Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:55 am

Okay, Youngsta has just informed me his show has been changed! From now on his show will be on MONDAYS 11 til 1... Youngsta has been playing on thursdays 9 til 11 for SEVEN YEARS, i think alot of you, if not all of you, will agree that this isn't cool.
So if you could all put "KEEP YOUNGSTA'S SHOW" in big writing on this thread that would be sweet. Hopefully someone from rinse will see it or something, it's worth a try! Let's not let this be an end of an era

Christ, thought you meant he wasnt gonna be on Rinse at all for a sec.

Unfortunately I can see why Rinse would want to move it to that time (not saying the show isn't very good or anything just halfstep is as current as it was). :|

As did I; I've had enough bad news for one day without having to see that.

Well, Thursdays are his slots... and the 2nd Thursday with Distance is a highlight, so I'd say for traditions sake keep it as is.

But truth be told I'm part of podcast massive, and I can't really see Rinse just slotting him back and forth if they already changed him, as they apparently have since he already told you. But are they doing this because they are giving him more play time/sets at Forward? Or is to adjust or accommodate Yunx/Toast's schedule? If so, I'd say it would be worth it since it gives him more shows to spread the sound. Other than that I can't see a sound justification for moving him like that since the funky stuff that comes on before and after his shows was hardly making the stream crash as his tends to do to this day, even after the server issues sorted. (Clearly I, and history for that matter, disagree with Dubson on this matter.)

Also, is that effective immediately or next week, since I don't see his show up on the site yet?

Another question worth asking is, what happens to Plastician's show?

Could it be 5-7 slot Sunday since Anti-Social just got moved to Saturdays, since it used to be AS after Plastician--who I didn't even know still had a Rinse show--on Mondays.

Plastician is moving to Sundays 9-11 I believe he said it was. Theres obviously a need to re-arrange some of the schedule, whether this is Rinse or the DJs it seems that its going to be done. At least Yunx is still on there.

Looks like I'm gonna have to join the weekly podcast crew then (not that I don't grab them weekly, anyway). It's a shame but as long as Youngsta keeps bringing the beats, then it's all good.

Distance's new slot is good, at least.

Is there anywhere we can see the new timetable in full?

yeah it can't be down to youngstas show being less popular or "current" seeing as he reaches the ccap every week.

Wonder who's replacing him- i love thursdays on rinse atm- no want change!

Guys, if you've been listening to Rinse for a while, you'd know that this is a power move in the sense that Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, have always been sought after because you get people really at home and with the time to actually listen to a whole show straight through. Weds to Sat are good slots too, but people are busy with other things. Sun-Tues nights, people are home. If i were youngsta, and with the amount of artists and new music he breaks every show, i'd say this is a much better slot. All the heads worldwide will lock in and be on it.

That may have been relevant when Rinse was a pirate radio in the days before smart phones, since you could only lock in from a computer but with advent of smart phones/apps and rinse becoming 'legit' (I hate using that phrase to describe what happened) I don't see how that has any bearing on this situation as anyone can lock into rinse with relative ease regardless of where they may be at any given moment.

I'm evidently neutral--with partial bias to keeping on Thursdays for the rest of the fam--but I'm quite glad to see Distance's show become bi-weekly, so I can see the positive aspects in this; its just that I think what's done, is done, for better or for worse. I only wish to see more FWD nights with Youngsta and the crew on it, and Rinse CAN make that happen.

That said, is Youngsta still playing Thursday this week, or did they take over his slot already?

11 to 1 would be a serious shame... Because of the time difference I just wouldn't be able to listen to it then :S

I really don't care on what day he has his show, as long as it's not from 11 - 1. 9 - 11 would be perfect.
