Re: New Zeitgeist
Just finished it. By far their best film. Their economic arguments were always the most interesting. The ending was reeeeaaaalllly cheesy though but whatever. The whole series would be given so much more credence if it didn't associate itself with the truther movement or unnecessarily attack religion.

certain religious people are some of the most thoughtful, considered and intelligent people you will meet.
Re: New Zeitgeist
^^^
course. that has very little to do with religion though, and more to do with the person themselves.

the religion stuff they say is not untrue, but some of the conclusions drawn are drastic

yeah I know, but people like to imply religious people are stupid, in order to make themselves look intelligent purely by being non religious.noam wrote:^^^

Re: New Zeitgeist
interesting that it promotes Kibbutz as an example of society existing without crime, especially as Kibbutz such as Maagen Michael support their society through manufacturing and trading bullets
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

I love that you say, in 2011, after humans have been practicing various unorganized and organized religions for just about as long as we've been here, that now it is absurd to be religious.gwa wrote:yeah but come on mate. religion? really?

I believed in Santa for much of my childhood but at this point in my life I see it is absurd to believe in Santaborrowed wrote:I love that you say, in 2011, after humans have been practicing various unorganized and organized religions for just about as long as we've been here, that now it is absurd to be religious.gwa wrote:yeah but come on mate. religion? really?

Was more speaking about the almost inherent human desire for spirituality or some form of superstition, not about a global change in thinking. I know that a global change in thinking could happen, but I don't see what the point of that would be. As an atheist myself, I don't understand what other atheists are hoping for when it comes to a non-religious world. Its not like people become less knee-jerky or less superstitious when they lose their faith.

Re: New Zeitgeist
Rosy Cross are pretty in on that stuff, apparently the 'Western Mystery tradition' is pretty deep. I find it really cool how mystical experiences can be evoked by electrical impulse because it proves them as a conscious phenomenon. Where'd you get this manual? I'm starting to build up my library and I'm looking for materialchristophera wrote:i have a manual from the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis, and in the introduction they explain that they are a hermetic order and their goals are to elevate consciousness, activate psychic powers, and do all kinds of other cool stuff with scientific processes

Re: New Zeitgeist
just watched it last night... meeeh not as good as the first one in my opinion, definitely went too biased on this one, throwing in stuff like 'imagine a new planet similiar to earth, with the same resources, no human population and no republicans...'
hahaha come one its a cliche and cringe throwing those little jabs in there

^your missing the point.
and its completely different than the first one, which is all about conspiracy theories. this one doesn't touch on conspiracies at all

Re: New Zeitgeist
its a trilogy to be taken as a whole; its about the fundamental flaws in the way our lives have been, and are governed, by almost all systems which have been put into place to create a semblance of order.
the third is a hypothetical design for a system of order which isn't based on exploitation and lies for the benefit of a few over many
when you look at it like that the three films work pretty harmoniously
