people who think
'cool'
every sentence you've written has an elementary mistake in it.
think you need to sort out your own education first...

Re: English Ebonics..
Are you asking if anyone outside of the US uses slang?
Really?

Uhhhh so ebonics is basically the Black American Dialect right?amidoinitrite wrote:fixed.. haha..

Well West Indian slang/accents have a heavy influence on a lot of London's working class population, which some people would identify as 'talking black'.
Would have thought that was fairly obvious though if you've ever listened to any Dubstep podcasts/mixes lol

lol.. there is a difference between typing quickly on a internet forum.. and well, real social living
I really don't think you not capitalizing the first letter of the a sentence makes you any less educated than anyone else on the board..
just like typing errors or slang.. who cares?
but things like "we is gonna.." "how you is?" "it be my.."
edit: looking back at my posts.. I did have a lot of fuck ups
its more like the stereotypical "black culture".. but yeah, the main thing i was getting at was the dialect..onelove. wrote: Uhhhh so ebonics is basically the Black American Dialect right?

I was just curious.
I've listened to UK podcasts, but I'm terrible a recognizing the difference between accents.. so I wouldn't be able to tell.
..thanks for an actual helpful post

Places as white washed as Minnesota should probably steer clear of making borderline racist comments.
They should also steer clear of criticizing language skills as your state generally has trouble with their vowels. That whole North Dakota, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, Minnesota area need criticize no man over the english language.

I go to school in minneapolis, that doesn't mean that I'm from MN or that its "my state"..pkay wrote:Places as white washed as Minnesota should probably steer clear of making borderline racist comments.

And we're not talking about accents.. yeah the northern part of the midwest has some terrible accents but so do a lot of places. I'm sure everyone has an annoying accent to someone.
the way I've worded myself may have come of as "borderline racist", but thats really not my intent. I just assumed everyone would be able to understand my question.
There are white people who are just as bad, but I think its safe to say that ebonics is the "black culture"
maybe I should have said.. Is the stereotypical American "black culture" also in the UK.
Re: English Ebonics..
Do we have black people and do they have culture?

haha.. does your average black man speak as if they were uneducated?wubstep wrote:Do we have black people and do they have culture?

Re: English Ebonics..
That is nothing to do with race and you have crossed the 'borderline'.

Re: English Ebonics..
nope.. but we are talking about the stereo type of a culture. and if that same stereo is present in another place.wubstep wrote:That is nothing to do with race and you have crossed the 'borderline'.
not really crossing the borderline.. can you honestly admit you have no idea what I'm talking about, and the comments I've mad have been out of pure rasism?
Re: English Ebonics..
Brilliant deduction. It's like they combined ebony and phonics and made it one wordamidoinitrite wrote:but I think its safe to say that ebonics is the "black culture"

Wow racist much?
I spent a semester at UND, luckily I can attest that not everyone up there is as ignorant and uneducated as you are.... regardless of race

Wow racist much?
ignorant to what? people who get offended by an honest question?pkay wrote: I spent a semester at UND, luckily I can attest that not everyone up there is as ignorant and uneducated as you are.... regardless of race
and when did this become an argument of education?
if you honestly don't know what I'm talking about when I say ebonics then you should really get out more!
I don't get how any of this is racist..
the majority of black people I see speak ebonics.. the majority of people who i see speak ebonics are black.
I'm sorry if that offends anyone..
never did I say that ANYONE was uneducated..
if I were to say things like "we is gonna.." "how is you?" "how you be?" "it be my.." you would probably think of me as being less educated.. hell.. you've already said I was uneducated..

Re: English Ebonics..
it is true that in the uk some people do speak differently from other people.... scouse, geordie, scotish, irish, yardie, brummie, cockney, hampshire... we have many 'phonics...
out of interest, is there such thing as caucasiaphonics?
and cant we just call it all dialects, regardless of race, area, country, postcode...? thats a nice, easy, non-offensive way out of most linguistic debates for ppl who couldnt really care less about how a point is communicated, so long as it is successfully communicated..
