Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
Ok before I'm labeled "Stupid" hear me out.
Was working on a session for 3 days, and today logic decides to crash on me. I figured out it was the 6 instances of Massive that was opened. Not sure why it chose to crash today because I've never had a problem before and my computer is more than powerful enough to handle 6 instances with lots of CPU and RAM spare.
Anyway ... I had remove all the instances of Massive, leaving one open, and bounce each part of the bassline. I am now left with 8 bassline loops. But the loops lack the lower frequencies, I was in the process of adding the bass using the oscillators on Massive, it's how I work (strange maybe).
The question is whats the best way I can add bass to the bottom end to give these now samples. I'm not a fan of working with bass samples in wav form because I now feel limited to what I can do without effing up the samples.
Any pointers, or tips?

the same bassline with a a raw sine on the low end?

The bassline is played on one note, but heavy lfo modulation controlling the oscillators. I've tried modifying the patch with a lowpass filter and as soon as I touch Massive it crashes. It wouldnt really sound the same if I was to do it on another synth.Pedro Sánchez wrote:the same bassline with a a raw sine on the low end?
I've heard lots of people having the Massive and Logic problem.

i know it's not the nicest question but.... have you bought massive? the cracked versions stop working after a few days or even weeks.GV1 wrote:The bassline is played on one note, but heavy lfo modulation controlling the oscillators. And just use a sine wave. Your sub is supposed to be sine. I don't get why you'd make a tune without one at the bottom of the mix anyway..
Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
Sine, if the modulation on the mid and the sine don't match up who gives a shit, Just make sure it's on the same note and hits plenty hard and you'll be fine.
A conglomeration of my old tearout tunes I like, and my new ones I don't

2 choices...
download the newest version of massive.... which doesn't crash!! AT ALL!!
create a new audio track, insert a test oscillator & then a gate. side chain the gate to the bass channel,
tune ya sine to suit (oscillator). ya can automate the freq too.
look online for note freqs to keep em in key!

Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
Im going to bet that your copy of massive is [K]racked... Its a well known problem in the illegal versions...
Thats your real problem.
unless im mistaken, then im sorry.

Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
try bouncing it to an audio file instead of playing all those instances of massive.... just a thought

Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
nah.. he has the crack!
he needs to delete the component & then uninstall massive.
he could then either buy massive or dload the newest version of massive (which doesn't bug out)!
then again... once he deletes the component, he could always reassign all the massive tracks to any of the native logic plugins & learn how to use synthesis properly!

edit.. yea sure... of course I mean to dload the demo!
ya only lose patch saving ability, but ya can still open patches ya made in ya cracked version!

Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
I think you should at least try to bounce and chop/rearrange, on a side note. Make sure you do all your automation before you bounce it first time from MIDI to Audio, then you don't feel the need to have to keep bouncing back and forth.

Re: Adding "Bass" To The Bassline
I don't know what a test oscillator is but, massive crashes on me when I sometimes right click to on knobs and I out right bought it. I must need to update it, will do tomorrow. About your bass or lack of, I've had the same question for a while. Most of the basses or synths start sounding loose and sloppy and sometime inaudible around the frequency/note that I want. I don't know what to do but, maybe try adding a sine wave tuned down and add compression to keep it together.soulshynchyld wrote:2 choices...
