Trolley Snatcha- Scatta bass, help please!

Hello lads!
I've been checking the forum for a while and finally decided to join you guys!
So I've been trying to make some dubstep using reason and I have got some suprisingly good results (for a beginner).
But there is something I need help with: I'm desperatly trying to produce a bass similar to the one used in Trolley Snatchas tune Scattah, I've been looking for threads on it but never found one so I decided to sign and make on myself.
It sounds kinda aggressive, with short notes and it starts at about 0:27

Another example could be the tune Kickstarts by Bar 9, but I like the Trolley Snatcha one better.
In this it starts at about 0:42.


And I have another question too. I'm about to get a DJ-set, on a very limited budget. Im talking most likely under/around 350 €, should I start by getting a couple of cheap cdjs and a mixer?

some reverb and dimension expander

its close. but i have no effects on it right now.

Thanks for such a quick response! I gave it a try and it sounded pretty nice actually I will get back to it later to make it sound even better but that was actually a great start and it took just 5 minutes! Thanks alot

well your biggest reply will be getting a second hand pair of technic 1200's or 1210s
ive never personally used them but thats what you should shoot for.

Roger, is there really any difference between CDJ's and actuall turntables? I mean is it easier to learn with a couple of CDJ's or real vinyl turntables?

nothing beats the feel of working on an actual turntable.
but its all preference mate. you should find someone who has some and give it a go for yourself

Yeah I've never tried Dj'ing and noone around here does it either. I could probably rent a deck though, I will look it up.. I think it's a lot cooler though when you see some hardcore DJ flippin' vinyls than storing the tracks in a computer. I'd rather be a cool vinylflipper if you go by how it looks

Haha, I don't really like that bass, but it's kinda cool that he came up with a way to make his music and noone figuring out how!

I actually have a copy of Massive, but I've never really bothered to try it out since I'd like to learn the built in Synthesizers in Reason before I start using external VSTi's!

Uhm yeah, I did use the sawtooth LFO from the start but thank you for pointing it out!

But ontopic now: Will it ruin the sound if I put another Oscillator into it? Or maybe even a Filter?

I'm not at home right now so I can't really try it but I get your point of view though..

For 350, yes, a cheap set of CDJs and a mixer will suit you. Id look into the bottom end of denon CDJ line or the top end of the numark, by the time you get in that range with CDJs play lag and stuff is insignifigant... Try to put as large a portion of your budget into the mixer as you can, CDJ's with their minimal moving parts break alot less easily then the faders on cheap mixers do.

Aw nice, it feels like I'd have to be spending alot more money if it was the CDJ's that would break easier
So if I get http://www.thomann.de/se/numark_ndx_200.htm x2 and a http://www.thomann.de/se/numark_m_2.htm, I'd have a reasonable setup for a beginner?

Might not be how this bass was made but try making some wobble (with any type lfo wave) then putting a arpeggiator on it so it repeats the wobble really fast. Then just mess around with the wobble speed and the arp rate and gate. Works excellent for these type bass's imo.
