To Zig Zag

„Glasgow's prodigal son Rustie has been creating some of the most mind boggling, genre straddling, electronic music of recent years. His tune "Jagz The Smack" was released on an unsuspecting public through fledgling Glasgow club Numbers' label Stuff Records and quite literally sent shockwaves through the electronic music scene, with everyone from Modeselektor to Flying Lotus, Anthony Shakir to Kode9 going absolutely crazy for it. Following that came his 'Spliff Dub' Remix of Zomby on Hyperdub - a dancefloor destroying bass machine - then 'Zig Zag' was released on Wireblock and was picked up as one of the fiercest, freshest tracks of 2008. Rustie marries the energy of hyphy and hip hop, with the low slung bass of dubstep while straddling the stuttering swagger of electronics and techno with the greatest of ease. The fact that he hails from the unlikely home of Glasgow along with his Numbers and Lucky Me counterparts and creates music often described as 'aquacrunk' only helps to add to the charm. With a slew of killer remixes in the pipeline and his new releases, including an Lp on Warp Records, his future looks bright.“

8Bitch

„Maya started her electronic messing at the age of 14, running it alongside a traditional music education and jazz singing. After arriving in London in 2002 she started to absorb the influences of the big grimey smoke, retaining her love for the machine music of Detroit but inescapably adding that London deep bass into her productions. A subsequent move to Glasgow saw her complete the next stage in her journey, interfacing with the wonk sound that was just starting to explode there.

Now she's ready for the big things. Remixes have already started appearing here and there and she had a collection of tracks reviewed by the hugely prestigious UK magazine The Wire while they were still on CDR, and she's widely tipped as one to watch for 2010. Incidentally, the gamers amongst you may like to know that Maya's body and moves were used for no less than three of the characters in DJ Hero.“
