Even the person who created FM synthesis doesnt really understand it

There are only 3 people in the whole world who truly understand FM and they are all locked up in asylums

+1, also if anyone knows of any really in depth fm8 tutorials let me know. I've seen the trifonic ones which are great, just looking for something more in depth

I would say that its a far too advanced level where you can say that one is better then the other. Most probably people never use 20% of the abilities that both of these synths have...

FM8 has been pissing me off lately, with its slow envelopes and hit and miss modulation. So yesterday I dusted off my Rhino key and downloaded the latest version. Fair doose its a pita to program. But my gosh it sounds nice. FM with loops and samples in the oscillators has a lot of potential. If I can be arsed to make up some presets that take the pain out of programming it, I think I will have a winner.

Now if they make it so you can run the filters in true serial, it'd probably be all the FM I need.
