With you on that. Had a couple of ribs broken a few years back in a disagreement, made sneezing absolute hell for a couple of months

I had a similar thing happen. Broke a couple of ribs in a fall (still got a big dent in my chest where it happened) and ended up getting pleurisy which is painful enough in itself. Cue 3 months of severe coughing and sneezing, each of which felt like someone rebreaking my ribs. After about 2 months of agony I had some super severe sneezing fit (like 7 huge sneezes) then collapsed on the floor in agony after. I rang my old man and he came up and took me to A&E, being a tnuc the whole way and saying I only pulled a muscle. Got there and they did an xray, said I'd cracked both my ribs again because of the coughing and sneezing, put some tight bandages all over my chest, prescribed my fucking TONS of dihydrocodeine cough syrup and tramadol and sent me on my way.
Got the piss thoroughly taken out of me for sneezing and breaking my ribs.

You ever see that C4 documentary before Christmas on how dodgy the post office was in terms of thieving stuff out of envelopes and packages not turning up? My local sorting office, less than a half mile walk away. Bunch of stnuc. Everything gets sent to the office, no exceptions.

When people do this, I agree then make give them spurious examples of other times they have performed badly at something. Usually followed by overly critical suggestions as to how they can improve themselves.

Be happy you're paying a shop and not dumb enough to try it yourself

. If it helps, I've seen people drop sockets onto pistons that wound up costing triple that when all is said and done.

Yeah, my knowledge of car maintenance stops waaaaay short of taking anything apart in the engine bay

I just ask them stupid questions and see how many they'll answer.
