Excellent legnd4ry, great addition to the forum!

Hopefully noone asks how to make the "wiki-wiki" scratchy sound, or all faith is lost.

Definitley like this, been producing a lot longer then I've been DJing and recently enough I got a set of technics SL 1210, I can get 2 records matched (most of the time), but thats all I do really.

Thought it'll bring some good discussion and stories :D
Fair enough, just noticed the "** - Discussion lead rather than a 'how to'" mark.
Most DJs I know (myself included) tend to rock a bit harder at least a little liquored up.
Never understood this. You wouldn't go do a normal job pissed up and risk ruining it, so why do DJ's see it as more acceptable? Just get pissed after you play!
Because you're an entertainer, not a quantum physicist or conducting brain surgery. Plus as it's quite a public thing, a lot of guys I know (myself included) get nervous, especially at big or important parties. Lubricating your brain can take the tension off and ease the stomach butterflies.

Also, if after a pint you can't mix two records together, I reckon there's a strong possibility you couldn't have done it sober. But in the same breath it's about moderation, having seen Skream and Adam Freeland barely able to see the decks...
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Speak to Youngsta about drinkin on the job...doesn't he drink like a bottle of brandy at each gig? Always see it in videos/pictures!

Well said. And no, not too many DJs are getting that trashed on stage. Alcohol has never once been a hindrance on my ability to mix, aside from maybe a clumsy beat match once through a set, while on the other hand, does help me feel the hype, and get into my own zone. If it had ever been negative, I'd reconsider, but for now, it's done nothing bad to me.

I for one, think scratching is pretty sweet- even if I can't do it. All things in moderation ;-)

Looking forward to reading about how you (guys) get bookings. Around here you basically have to contact the 'promoters'. First gig was the
other way around though.

1- 2 beers max for me. Enough to loosen up a bit, but not enough to make me start flailing it.

Can someone help me out? I'm trying to map my Numark Mixtrack with Traktor DJ Studio and I'm getting really confused as to which button/knob corresponds to which since I'm coming from the VirtualDJ demo :P If anyone has a few minutes to sit on AIM with me and help me out that would be amazing. Thanks :D

this is gonna be usefull for when i start dj'ing... I've seen a lot of dj's already but i'm mostly too wasted to see what they're actually doing. I'm expecting a large vinyl vs. cdj discussion anytime soon :D
