@zonetrooper5: I very much like your hi hat work, nice n shuffley.

@Sifty: I looooooove it. I love piano's and the little punchy chords. The hi hat sounds very rnb'y. Ahh it sounds like a song I can't remember! When it kicks in, that sub is killer!

Here's a little something I've just come up with. Got a rusko feel going on(I think)

Soundcloud

Really wanna make that sub boom though.

too much reverb...and i think I hear some stereo separation...wouldnt do stereo separation on the bass (think about what would happen if the track is played in mono)...i think the sound design can be better but I do hear some potential. work on it some more and process the basses some more and get rid of some of that reverb and I think it will be really good. Also work on the arrangement
Espy wrote:Really wanna make that sub boom though.
Try adding a lowpass filter on the sub set at 185 Hz, eq that puts emphasis on the bass and cancels out everything else, and a bass booster at 60 Hz...my sub cant even handle it when i make bass like that, but it sounds really good when applied with the rest of a tune. Tell me whether or not it works for you.
...in my opinion

Thanks for the feedback. Removed nearly all the reverb from the synth and processed the sub a little bit(subtractive EQ on everything else). I've just replaced the same one on my soundcloud, sound better now?

@ Disgustinz[CA]
feelin this tune, i thought the vocals samples were abit over used, and and the sound of the lead wobble synth felt a little stale after a second listening. but the rhythms were great! enjoyed the song thoroughly

6 for 2
@Right on time- Lovely melody, and percussion. The second build works great. The reverb on that clap seems a little excessive though.

@espy- This does sound a lot like Rusko. The drums need to be balanced a little better with the bass imo.

@eldoogle- Quality production. Mid basses just don't harness the sub bass enough.

@dreamthief- I love your percussion, but your bass needs a little work.

@krispies- Little john sounds a lot better when he isn't over limited. I mean it's a dope track, but you can hear it dipping every second. Just let up on the limiter a tad and you'll be cool.

@debaser- Sick tune, but some of the vox isn't in tune. Not sure if that was intentional.

So these are nearly finished tracks, and the dubs section is shit for them so.

A little something that seems to be writing itself. Just a sketch of an idea that I'm working with.

Nah, can't argue if I broke a rule, especially when it's in plain view on the first page of a thread. Now, feedback time!

@TheBassTest Loving the tribal sort of intro, sets the vibe for the rest of the song. The mixdown is excellent, however the lead could do to be a bit more prominent in the mix.

@ponte_ricky Chill vibes going on here, digging it! Can't wait to hear this filled out with the vocals.

@sifty Loving the piano and orchestral stabs you've incorporated. The piano could do to sound a bit fuller/wider, it sounds a bit empty to my ears. Other than that, I love the chill mood you've set

@Krispies You've got a good idea going on here, but the mix in the beginning is harsh on the ears. The sound in the rest is a bit overcompressed, turn some levels down so things aren't competing against each other and take it easy on the limiter.

First tune I've posted on DSF - Have given feedback a few times before anyways though

Here is my WIP.. I will be adding a ride to the 'heavier' section near the middle.
Will also be adding a rolling snare that will follow the voice on the 'hold it down if you don't hold it down' part
All feedback welcome!

Soundcloud

oprs - Interesting tune, I like the minimalist approach. The high pitched sound I thought was awful until I heard it in the context of the drop, then it made sense. I quite liked that. Maybe have a slightly longer attack on that sound pre-drop with a little short tailed reverb

sinister87 - this track is a grower I think! Maybe for more impact, increase the speed by just a couple of BPM? May be off the mark there but that's just what popped into my head.. I like the verbed out effect of the song in general. In the intro, the drum volume needs to be more constant and the riser needs to be lower in the mix in my opinion. I really like the muffled melody, by far my favourite part of the track.. A really nice haunting quality to it - Good work on that!

DreamThief - Love the percussion in the intro! Great melody too, that synth is sculpted really well. Perhaps slightly more reso on whatever filter you are using just to bring out a 'central point' of the melody synth? Haha, the pitch changing synth that comes in at 1min 09secs made me laugh for some reason.. Not because it's bad, I actually really like it. As you build the tune, is there going to be a 'drop' of sorts or is this the main idea of the track? If there will be a track I think it'd go really well at 1min 36secs.. Oh wait, hadn't heard this far yet, the main synth comes in at 2mins 04secs which I really like... Diggin that. I take it you haven't got around to putting the sub bass in yet? If you have, I'm getting little to nothing through on this side. Great work so far though, looking forward to seeing how this turns out

RightOnTime27 - Great cinematic feel in the beginning.. Can't fault it much to be honest, maybe a rumbley sub from an explosion low in the mix underneath may make it more epic. Wow, this is some great stuff. Drop has just hit in.... Can't fault it right now. . . . . . . . Wow mate. I'm at the end now, amazing stuff, will be checking you out on SoundCloud. Will definitely benefit from mastering when each element 'pops' out more at you, the overall mix seems a little flat right now but I'm sure that will comes at the end of the process! Great work mate

Ascian: That's a nice one, really love the intro and the way you used the vocals in it.
I don't really have uch to tell you but I think you should try to bring your bass up just 1 or 2 db, it'd be a banger!

elendarsilvermoon: I think your lead get's a little bit messed up with the beat at some points but not really sure, feels like it's almost supposed to, right? The bassline is cool, I love the kinda minimalistic drop, and the limited movement or what to call it..
When I think about it, the lead is what made this WIP interesting haha.. Oh and that "Doctor P-ish" sound, would probably sound better if its brought down a little in pitch, not much, just the tiniest bit.

RightOnTime27: Oh Shit man don't what to tell you that production is the shiit! Love those violinsounds and how it goes with thw flow of the song. :i:
Which label are you on? :)

My WIP, been on it for a couple of days now. I wanted it to have this early brosteppy touch but still be a chillout song. Haven't come up with a working lead yet, and this is just the beginning of the tune. Thanks for any feedback :)

@espy - You got a cool sound going there, but it sounded kind of empty to me. I don't know, then again, I have been up for over 24 hours. . .
@right on time - I'm really diggin the whole mood of the tune but, like sidrealdb said, less reverb on the clap. I really liked those subtle bells in the middle there somewhere.
@ascian - That had some fatty bass. I quite enjoyed it.

I know I did a terrible job mixing this, and that the drums are probably too busy. Also, it's not dubstep at all, but it could be with some improvements
and a bassline... :cornlol:

Hey dude thanks for the reply on the track. I was wondering what does "stale" means in this context ? And which wobble sound, I have two different at the beggining one that goes a bit more Pouah and the other Woa and a crunchy one in the second part. And do you think the drums part is good enough, mixing wise I would ask.

@ Siderealdb - You have cool drum beats. The first song was average, but the drum programming sounded like a classic drummer, are you a drummer or were you? The second song is even cooler. Lots of variety and good sound design. I think it needs some down time. At 1:36 would be a good time to strip away, and then rebuild it back up again. It needs a rest at some point. When you said on my song that the mid range isn't harnessing the sub, did you mean I need more lower frequency below the mid range?

@ Fused Productions - I think you need to spend time on the melody. Some notes don't fit so well together.

@ Disgustinz[CA] - Your snare doesn't come through well. It might be too low in frequencies, but I guess take my advice with a bit of 'salt' as I'm no expert. Besides that I like it.

@right on time - man that's tight! i think the reverb on the clap works, love that second part (1.50), although i don't like where that build up sound finishes on the last drop. violin or whatever is beautiful

@Ascian- BOOOM, grimey, love it, always liked those vocals, not usually my thing but i think that's perfectly executed. vocal work at 2.50 is heavy, sounds finished to me. Free up a 320 when your done???? xx

Ok something i've been working on had the drum beat, intro and the atmosphere for a week or two now did the bass and synth today. thinking about changing the notes on the sub after 1.44 probably to the same as the first 32 bars of the drop.I'm pretty happy with it, but that will probably change after a sleep. whatcha think?

Your mid and sub just sound too separate to me, however the bass at 0:39 to 0:49 gels quite well . Maybe compress the other bass notes together a bit, so they sound like one instrument.
Good song btw :)

ahhhhh i was giving feedback while too tired again-let me be more specific

i felt the rhythmic pulse of the "pouah" sound got stale. its role in the clip stayed very similar the whole through. the groove (which is a very nice one btw) did not change and thats why i felt like it got a little stale. but this is minor nitpicking, it is a great song! also i produce solely on headphones (i own no monitors) so I should not be giving mixdown advice

edit: also fused productions I am wholey unsigned, been producing for about a year now

@naw - pretty good seeing as you were using crappy monitors. Id bring the sub down just a touch though. That kinda yawwww/guitar kinda sound in the lead bring that up a touch. sounding god at the mo not too keen on the drum pattern though but thats personal preferenceand music taste. All in all sounding good, will watch out for an updaated version once you have better speakers to work with.

@chemical bliss - sounding good but id bring the wobble up a touch its maybe my crappy soundcard but the sub seemed to drown it out. good minimalistic feel to this simple but it works well. nice chilled vibes aswell. again the sub at around 1.33 seems a touch intense like its throbbing through my head, but this again may be my crapy equipment. will look out for the finished product.

@disustingz(ca) - wicked track so far a proper rave track. if this was played in the rave it would go off. only thing i dont like is the whistle. just a personal preferance. tune is sounding proper wicked though will start following on soundcloud to look out for the finished version.

@ascian - LOVE THIS!!! Proper nutty track after the vocals i feel thats the synth there needs cleaning up though bring the mid range in more not so much focus on the low end. track fits the vocals well. im proper bumming these vocals atm aswell so was glad to hear a remix. i know its a long shot but would you mind pmin me where you got the acapella. up to you if you dont wanna but id love to work with it. again props man big tune keep us updated with the finished article.

Here's a track Id like feedback on called bow down. its a bit rough at the mo and will add a break in as it does seem to drag a piece just added a few extra bars at the end for length so i could listen on my iphone as my maudio sound card is a bt tempremental so i have to work with a standard pc sound card.
