OSX Reverbs...

Post by levitate » Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:22 pm

Hello all,

In my 6 years since I was exiled from a PC and Cubase, I've yet to find a great (free/cheap) reverb plugin for Mac OSX. I used to use the SIR1 on PCwhich was great - I also had some fantastic impulses which I have somehow mislaid digitally in the interim.

Anyone got any suggestions? I have been working with LAConvolver and some room impulses for a while, but am ditching that sound generally as I just get mad phasing on a mono sum. I'm looking for a simple, quality reverb: hearing the new Burial has made me realise how good his reverb sounds and I want to be able to throw on a reverb send on my projects that I can rely on to sound spacy and natural and non-phasy...

What dya reckon, OSXers? I'd be interested in quality reverb impulses, if anyone can recommend any, as well as any actual plugins, either impulse-based or digital.

Thanksssss J

Well.. It would be more helpful to hear what DAW you're using? Is it still cubase?

A few - not Cubase. Been using Ableton for a few years, and Logic Express, and currently experimenting with Reaper as it reminds me of the old Cubase days. Reaper's convolver plugin actually looks quite promising.

The TAL reverbs are good, I use the Reverb 3 (I think it's 3...) all the time.

Thanks mate will check it out, wasn't aware of that one.

For anyone who's interested, I'm very encouraged by some preliminary testing on these impulses:

Some great stuff there!

Apple's AUMatrix Reverb comes as standard with OSX I think. Never used it but have heard its actually pretty good.
