I just figured out why my guitar recording sounded like shit. It was set to a mixer channel with a heavy chorus effect and distortion :corntard: I know its soon to post a new wip, but I fixed up the guitar, added some harmonizations and made it sound wicked sexy :corndance:

Newer-er version:
Soundcloud

@Andrei: Someone has chubbs for skrillex :cornlol: But in all seriousness, all the synths sound absolutely sick. Maybe a little too skrillex sounding, but still, really good work!
--so you're not digging the synth at :26 at all? You think I should rewrite the part with the same synth, or just scrap that synth and make a new, more fitting one?

@FluidMoShun In all honesty, I do like the melody being played and I think the synth is more improved now than it was before, but it still doesn't quite do it for me.. If you have any time, I wouldn't hesitate to go experimenting with different synths for that specific melody to see what else you can pull out, but really it's just my opinion and it doesn't take much from the track regardless, it's still a fairly interesting piece and entertaining to listen to, regardless.

And yep, I am a Skrillex fan :sofa:

Hmm.. maybe I should just say fuck it, and replace it with some guitar. It would give the song more of a theme (guitar throughout, instead of just in that one section). What'd you think of the guitar part in the 2nd half of the song?

The synth just feels "above" the rest of the track rather than blending in with the rest of the instruments, resulting in it sounding a little un-natural.

Looking for feedback for this tune I'm working on. It's not dubstep but feedback would be much appreciated. I will leave detailed feedback to anyone who reviews my tune and gives me some ideas. I would love to review 3 tunes first but honestly my shit never gets reviewed ever so, if you leave me some decent feedback I'll leave you some decent feedback.

heres the tune
Soundcloud

you leave feedback on my tune and you have my word that I will listen to your tune and point out what I think is wrong or what can be improved, I'm honestly just tired of listening to a million tunes and never receiving feedback.

Also if feel free to send me your tunes over aim: my aim is ontheblueline@gmail.com

I'm always looking to meet new people and crit tunes so just give me a holler

Definitely not a poor track so far, but I think it's just that I'm so used to the groove of the original that this was a little odd of a listen for me.

With that being said, there are many aspects which you added to that track that I enjoy. Certainly more versatility in the basslines than the original, but it was just a little bit awkward to get used to from a casual viewpoint of someone who's heard both the original and your remix. Not to say it's a bad track. Great use of sounds, and certainly an entertaining enjoyable listen.

dude this is sounding sick! the sounds are dope, i like the "mushing" synths (best way i can explain it ) i just wish the rhythm was a bit quicker....i felt like my head nod was a bit off (idk, it most likely is just me being high right now :dunce: )

anyways its only been 3 days since i posted a WIP but heres the new one anyways :4: Soundcloud

@ ogunslinger awesome rhythm, really diggin the funky vocals and the synths are just crazy, good job

@ TheBassTest pretty sick man, love those crazy kicks and that melody is pretty catchy and goes well with the beat, the song could use maybe more sub power

This is a track i`ve been workin on for couple of days, i think i pretty much finished the first drop, what do you guys think about it ?

@Kett - nice but i reckon the wobble would be better at a lower LFO rate , or a falling reese with a sub might work better

@AndreiStephen- nice but i reckon the lead could do with another layer (something with allot of square wave lol), allso kik could do with another punchy layer , allso where you chop the lead in and out i reckon a auto filter (LP or BP) would be nice

@naw - i like this dude , like that crazy pitchbent acid sound lol, drums sound good especally the kik sound great , putting a side chanin on your lead/arp might help it sit better in the mix near outro like the fact that is filtered out in certain bits tho

@FluidMoShun - i like this one man sound heaps retro chip tune style and the axe adds a nice element to the track

@TheBassTest - nice one dude wobble sits pretty nice, but i reckon the kik could do with abit more punch and snare could use a tad more hi-mid (preferance)

@cryokinesis - i totally digg this man realy nice groove you got there , i like the pads you have done for this tune but i wanted the sequence to evolve abit more tho still keep it up

@cryokinesis - Sounding good so far. Really digging that synth at 1min, sounds sick.

@ogun - I like some of the changes you've made. But the lyrics sound out of sync with the song? Really like the electro-dub though, some good sound design in there.

Here's what I'm working on. This is just the skeleton. Still need to work on the arrangement/transitions(especially from the dnb back to dubstep, just now it's just a placeholder)and the tweaks. So far here it is though(bit of dnb at 2.25)

espys: like the synth! although it sounds like your drums are getting a little lost in the mix when the bass drops? maybe try just adjusting the levels a bit! the synth at 1:50 is pretty dope as well! maybe just a little suggestion if you don't mind, maybe mix it up a little throw some different synths in there and make it a little more interesting, but other than that looks like your onto a good start! :W:

TheBassTest: some proper filth! I like! you change it up alot and thats pretty dope. I'd like to see a more present snare and maybe even a ride, I think that would add a lil bit to the mix. also are you sidechaining your kick ? just wondering because i can most def hear it but I can't really feel it if you know what I mean?

Thanks all for the feedback! haven't been able to get some feedback here in months :?

:-D thanks man! and yes i try to change things up to keep it more interesting (listening wise and production wise). there is a ride in there you just gotta listen a bit closer ;-) i usually keep the levels for my hats and ride at about half of the my kick and snare... and u know what it funny u mention the sidechain, i sidechain just about every tune i make but this one i forgot :p lololol

@Cheeky Like the vocals and piano at start, real creepy vibe. Hats seem a bit dry. Pretty cool, baseline could use a bit more beef, but I like it :D
@Espy Love it, not so keen on the baseline, but the feel, the notes, everything sounds nice. I especially like the dnb part of it.
@Cryokinesis Damn that track is hot! Would love to get it when finished, sounds wicked! Drop is lovely :)

Not sure if I'd call it finished. I'm still not happy with it to be quite honest, and this one:

Just feels like theres more to be done to them, not sure what tho :|

An obvious Rusko inspired song

My synths need a lot of work, and the levels are off, but this is the main bare skeleton. this is my first ever production, and a weeks worth of cramming ableton and massive tutorials lol. Enjoy

@An0n the bassline itself isn't that bad tbh, but needs a bit of reverb I think tho. You might also get more feedback on yours when you give feedback to atleast 3 others :)

@nnny I dont really dig that kind of dubstep. i like it when theres grimey basslines and whatnot, but yours sound just as good as any other ones like it that Ive heard.

@cheeky bassline needs more emphasis (make it louder). it also sounds weak, try shaping the sound more to what sounds good. diggin the creepy vibe, though

@Darj needs work on the bass sound. too much reverb and something about the vocal thing just...doesn't feel right

Anyway, heres my latest WIP, not much of a track. The work in progress that I am referring to is my sound design skills. This is my second time using FM Synthesis on a bassline and I am fairly new to any type of synthesis
