Why would they change something so fundamentally ingrained?

I'm going to use a quote from Grooki from an old thread that covered this exact same things.
grooki wrote:there has been a conversation about this a while ago... I use blocks for drums, clips for everything else. When I upgraded from fl5 to 8 it took me a while to get used to them. But now, i don't know what I'd do without them.

1. You can non-destructively edit clips - like someone above said cut the clip in half before or drop or whatever, without having to make a new pattern.
2. You can line clips up side by side, so you don't have to make the 'stairs' any more, which can get out of control sometimes.
3. YOU CAN SEE THE GRAPHS OF 'EDIT EVENTS' IN THE CLIPS! this was a revolution. you can clearly see the progression of your edited events. great!

there are other things that I can't think of right now... basically once you get used to them they are fantastic.
The first 2 are part of the reason why I made the switch to clips from blocks myself. Overall, for workflow and organizational reasons, it just makes sense to me. The 3rd one there doesn't apply to me as I haven't used "edit events" in a long time. I think overall, those top 2 reasons are why blocks are, in some sense, fundamentally flawed in their concept. However, I do understand the ease and simplicity of them, and I do respect that and the people that prefer it. I just prefer not to use them now myself.

Anyone know when it'll be released to resellers, could save a bit by getting an edu version.

FL is already one of the more affordable DAWs you can get. However, you can buy an edu version of fl9, and then upgrade to 10. I'm not sure if the educational version has free updates, but the free lifetime updates are like 39 dollars. Even if you have to buy the lifetime updates you're already coming out way ahead compared to most DAWs on the market.

I looked it up and you can only get the edu version boxed so it's only about £10 cheaper, plus no free updates. Downloadable version is only £110. Will prob get it next month if I keep hearing good things about it. Patcher looks awesome.

Everything works, you just have to move it from the FL9 Folder to the FL10 :W:

You really didn't need to do that..
Just add a folder to the "File" options. Where the hell do you keep your samples?

Indeed.

Options > Files > Browser Extra Folders > Select Path > It appears in the browser.

Can't remember if it was you who asked, but did you figure out how to stretch the view in terms of width in the playlist?
You just drag the scroll bar out to make clips smaller, and in to make them bigger

OMGz guys! Im kinda pissed about this and kinda amazed about this.

The other night I got less than 1 hr of sleep because I was spending time editing all my projects to use clips instead of blocks...then I just open one of the not-yet-converted ones this morning and see that it automatically converts it
