Deep, dark, dangerous DnB!

Post by cityzen » Tue Apr 05, 2011 6:19 pm

In the interests of keeping the forum nice and tidy this thread has been created to keep the 'Dungeon Sound' thread strictly for dubstep.
This is for the similar sounding stuff at 170, the likes of which Yongsta has been playing at the end of his show the last couple of weeks.
Share/disguss/post your 'Dungeonesk' drum & bass here!

Cosmic Surgeon got the ball rolling in the other thread.

Anything released on Shogun, Headz, Critical, Exit, Dispatch, Ingredients, Cylon, Subtitles etc. is worth checking out.

This tune is just too heavy though..

All this DnB talk we've been doing today put me in the mood to do a wee mix (see sig).

Tracklist is on the soundcloud if anyone's bothered!

IDK, is it? I would call it Drum & Bass personally.

^^ Yeah Octane & DLR doing big things - love 'Transition' too - nice to see it in your mix man, which I really enjoyed by the way :-)

Ah, thank you very much mate! Transition's something nasty. Love how Octane & DLR percussion always pierces through the mix - sharp hats and rides accenting the rhythm. I think DnB percussion's never gonna be as interesting as it is in 140 'cause there's just more space with dubstep, but these guys prove it's still a formidable tool in the DnB producer's arsenal.

Yeah there's lovely groove to 'Transition'. Off-beat sounds which give it a really bouncy feeling - can any one think of other tunes that are kind-of similar? One that springs to my mind is 'Chubrub', although not quite in the same style...... if that makes any sense?!

Looking forward to more of their Dubstep stuff too, as part of Cymatic. 'Electric Church' is a tune!

Keep her rolling:

and two DnB numbers from the typically-140 camp, for good measure:

My mate put this on in the car the other night and I was thinking "what the fuck is this" but completely forgot to ask him. Now I know.

Devastating tune mate. Some epic dystopic intro, I hope no one ever plays this tune quietly.
