the massive influx of how do i sound like producer x or song x threads lately, seriously?
i don't remember it having been this bad to date yet

do people just not want to take the time to learn synthesis and experiment around on their own anymore?

I just posted how to create a sound, and also posted a reference, but that was not to sound like that producer, just heard that kind of sound, and tried on my synths, but can't get the same screamy feeling.
I dont think people don't want to create their own sounds, but it can be nice to get some tips and pointers how to, so you can experiment more with the new techs?:)

imo, its just that the "legit" specific sound design questions are adressed quickly (since they're specific questions, a couple posts are enough to sort a more or less definite answer) and fall back into the depths of dsf in a matter of days, whereas skrillex thread are bumped again and again with alpacas and similar dsf jokes

Music is a trend now not an artform. People dont want to make their own sound or unique style. It's sad to see.

It's because people are more and more used to having whatever they want as soon as they want it via the Internet. TV shows, films, songs, albums, books, information, news, the weather, pictures of cats with shit phonetical captions.
It's the same with learning skills. Whereas before you'd either have to read a book or magazine to learn something (assuming hands on learning wasn't a practical option for you), these days it's a case of asking people on a forum. People are just in the habit of Googling instead of messing about on their own and learning by doing.

Nothing wrong with asking how to get certain sounds as long as you experiment and change it up to make it your own style.

Agreed.
But what gets people's backs up is the fact that the same questions are being asked on an almost daily basis. If you search "Skrillex Bass How", for example, in the Production group, you get the following;
http://www.dubstepforum.com/search.php? ... mit=Search
25 pages of result. But rather than read through all 25 pages, try out the different techniques, watch the videos, listen to the examples etc etc, some people still just start a new thread.

exactly.... i don't care if people are curious about how to do x y or z... it is just when people are too lazy to a search (on this board or google or whatever) that gets annoying.

This crap is not able to be explained away.
If the questions were even remotely different, I`d help.
But they all ask for the same thing without even bothering to do a slight amount of research.
That`s what it comes down to.
It`s just too much damn effort to spend more than five minutes on a sound.
It all comes down to a total lack of originality.
A or B rather chooses to make identical wobbles because, hell that guy is making some dollar.
I`ma gonna jump on that bandwagon quick.
Why not jump on the bandwagon that is Dubstep?
Make your own sound and be happy with it.
pffft
stab, kick, wait 3 beats, snare, wait a further beat, tom, in comes sweeping sound, delay, boom, boom.
Did I get the Dubstep formula exactly right? Thanks goodness now I am formulaic. MONEY MONEY

It reminds me of the Ark Music Factory story. If anyone hasn't heard the song Friday by Rebecca Black by now, you should definitely go look for it. That song is what you get when you have someone else do everything for you. If you aren't going to put the time in yourself, then you're just going to be extremely disappointed at every turn.
People seem to think that if someone tells them how to make a "datsik" bass that they are going to be able to produce songs that are on the same level as datsik. Problem is, just because you can make one of his sounds, that doesn't mean you are going to have any clue how to use it. This is where every lazy SoB quits and I'm perfectly fine with that.
