It's only a PITA, because you're a newb. Any daw you start off in is going to be difficult, no matter how easy people say it is. I've used Logic, Reason, FL, and Ableton - all have their pros and cons, and each have their own idea of good workflow.

Stick with FL. Ive used Reason, FL, Ableton, and Cubase (which is shit IMO) and i do everything on FL Studio. It does everything so well and its more functional and comprehensive than the other DAWs. Believe me its the best IMO. When i started out and didnt know shit about FL i watched dubstep tutorials on youtube, and saw them go through how to make a song. this is a good way to learn the ropes as everything you need to know is shown to you and applied.

<keep it heavy>

Was introduced to Ableton years after I gave up staring at FL.
Never looked back.
( FL does have some amazing features mind you, just would rather be able to see everything at more ease.)

All daws do the same thing...the only difference is what it looks like. (FL Studio looks the best imo, but thats just my opinion)
its all preference, like apples and oranges. If you really hate FL Studio so much, just download demos of other software and see which one you do like.
My prediction? You'll be just as confused with the others as you are with FL, so it would be a waste of time for you to switch.

Dubstep, snorestep more like
Only losers make dubstep...
(serious answer I use logic + occasionally renoise. If I was on windows I'd be all over Cubase)

Wow, you think FL is hard to use? It's like the most user friendly DAW.
