I estimated 4 hours a day for 10 years... although most days I do much more than that, I was compensating for days I did less or none at all....

and that gave me about 15,000. Thing is, in those 10 years I really have taken so few days off (even when ill, etc)... the true number is probably closer to 17,000.

Absolutely shitloads!

Produced for 3 years when i didnt work for 1 of them so I was doing 12 hour stints, then gave up for 5 years (hard drive failure and no success), then I started again a month or so ago and probably do about 2 or 3 hours a night...

Probably in the 5 or 6000 hour range...

But the true question is, how many hours until people get big name releases/a name for themselves? Obviously there is the natural talent, but thats a minimal requirement on top of the hours/days/years of practice to perfect this art. Which also leads onto the question of are there people making tunes just as big/bigger than the top boys who haven't been recognised for one reason or another?!

Too old for this... but still too young to care!

Hahaha how am I supposed to know that?!? Been producing for nearly 10 years, I suppose I piss about in Fruity for about 7 hours a week on average (give or take an hour or 2), so I estimate and extrapolate to about 3640 hours? I really have no idea.

How do you even begin to count?!?!
I reckon I made at least 80 little bits before I really got serious about anything. Since then, somewhere between 20 & 30
Never really counted
So far, had one release. Got 5 more coming out over the next few months
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

Being ill is no reason to put off production!
If anything, it's reason to stay at home and do more of it

Been fiddling around with things since high school (music was a big part of why I rarely ever got homework done and was lucky to not get held back). I think I've been doing things since around 2002-ish. I put myself at around 26,280 hours total. The hours I've spent working on anything that I would consider decent is probably more around 2000 or so and time spent producing dubstep probably more around 50 hours. I've only really started taking things seriously within the past couple of years, so most of those long hours were just me pissing around.

As far as actual per-track production times, it varies depending on the style. I've got symphonic stuff I've been working on for close to a year now and other tracks that I've stayed up for almost 24 hours straight and banged them out from start to finish.

Around 5000, but thats just a rough guess, includes all the fucking around hours in the first few years. But now it's usually between 10 and 15 hours a week.

Hmm I tried a calculation, which is most likely off by a bit, but whatever.

10 hours per week * 20 months * 4 weeks/month

Around 800 I reckon?

That's why I said I *didn't* normally stop when ill... there were a few times my hearing was fucked so I didn't do much then. Other than that, any other illness I had, I normally still worked on production.
