Regarding Zomby's gig in Moscow. It was a major letdown for all the fans really. After he didn't show up twice, anticipation was very high. The fact that he played almost exactly a playlist of tunes that was put up a few weeks earlier on the web (have a look here: http://pullup.it/2010/10/zomby-top-10/), didn't really help, there was almost nothing new being played there. And the way he played just sucked any remnants of vibe out of the show. Looking like a very bored guy behind a computer he'd just let the tunes run out and then play the next one after a 2 second pause. Fiddling with the computer only while changing tracks. I'm sure a UK crowd would just boo him off stage, the Russians persevered through the whole 40 minutes of it. Therefore all the outrage from Russian fans, who were very disappointed with the show. It really did look like someone just going through a preselected iTunes playlist, just for the sake of saying I've done it.

The singer video is all tongue in cheek, it's pretty clear that she's not going to get anything from anyone, it's just a good reason for her to remind people that she still exists. The promo group responsible was very intensively promoting the gig with that Natalia's Song track, so therefore all the broohaha... Anyway with this they scored a bit of controversy and coverage on the second biggest after MTV music channel in Russia.

I don't get why the Russians get all the flack for piracy, though. Seriously ThePirateBay is run out of Sweden, most of the biggest torrent sites are in Europe. Remember OiNk, yes that was from the UK? How do you think the kids in Russia get their hands on releases? It's usually someone in the Record Label -> Shop chain in Europe who rips the release and uploads it. Seriously there's enough people legally buying music in Russia, and there's enough people I know in Europe who haven't paid for a CD even for years...

Maybe because of all those para-legal shops/download sites you won't shut down. Pirate bay is enormous (nice mentality, pointing around like that), sure, but in Sweden you can't sell your warez on the street. I once visited rural Russia and it kinda bummed me out and I'm not some copyright warrior.

Zomby should sort out his performance though. Maybe he is insane, actually.
