Post by IDuIBsTeIP » Mon Apr 11, 2011 4:17 pm

hey guys im fairly new to mixing with programs so forgive me if i end up saying something that is wrong lol if you have any feed back that may help me please reply! alright so here is my issue...

i got 2 ndx800's and shitty behringer djx750 mixer (i know its bad) and i have just been mixing with those for the past few months but i have recently got traktor pro and i would like to use my mixer with it... now here is where my problem comes in... i have got my decks to work as much as i know how with traktor... i used th TSI off NI website and so far so good... got most of the functions that are necessary now im completely clueless on how to get my mixer to work with traktor... :u: it is not a midi controller mixer at all and i dunno if that has anything to do with my problem or not... i have had a few people tell me to get a few different things but people just tell me what to get and dont explain it to me and i dunno if they even know what they are talking about... so im not about to spend some money on stuff that doesnt even work properly... i hear i just need a sound card like an audio dj 2... but i dunno what to get or what to even look for... like i said i have my mixers working via USB cable in the back going to my PC i have also been told that a xone 1D controller would be good to have but i need 2 of them... now i dunno what those are even for honestly... any who... i just want to hook up my mixer to my pc and controll the mxing with my external mixer and my decks and use the program... any help would be amazing... i have read up on this on the internet but i cant seem to find exactly what im looking for so i figured i would post on here... thanks for your time...

You will need the Audio 2, Audio 8 or Audio 10 soundcard to use Traktor as a DVS. Make sure that you have Traktor Scratch Pro and not just Traktor Pro. You will also need the control vinyls of course. The main thing is you need the soundcard because the software needs that to read the control tone from the vinyl.

Hey dude, I have an almost Identical setup to yours for when I play odd shows (dances, birthday parties, etc) where I want to play music from my laptop that I can't be bothered to burn to cd, because I'll probably only ever play it once. I run my 2 ndx800's and an audio 2 dj into a USB hub, then into the USB port on my laptop. But yeah, basically you'll need a soundcard to interface between your mixer and your PC, audio 2 DJ probably being the cheapest. I got it for $99 bucks at a sam ash, and it came with $10 of beatport music and traktor LE.

So your mixer setup should look like this... the L/R Line outputs should go into the L/R 1/4 inch in on the audio 2 dj (it comes with the appropraite cables) then your audio 2 dj will connect via USB to your laptop, and traktor should recognize it, after you install the drivers.

i do have scratch pro so thats a plus... now you say control the vinyl? i thoight i was already doing that... since i have the cdjs hooked up to my laptop via usb and the tsi working... i can control the program with the parameter knobs and play scracthing and pause and all those goodies... so what do ya mean? like i said im pretty new lol could you give me a lil rundown of how all thise actually wires up and works properly?? please? thanks!

ahhhhhhhhh i see! so basically get the audio 2 dj and keep my decks connected via the mini usb in the back of the cdjs to the usb port on my laptop... then i connect my mixer via l/r to the audio 2 and then audio 2 via usb to my laptop... then all should mesh proper with a lil playing around with the preferences... correct? that way i can mix between the 2 tracks via my external mixer? correct?

shit... i found 2 different audio dj 2's... which one is it... there is a Native Instruments AUDIO 2 DJ Interface ( 100$ ) and then there is a Numark DJ I/O Multi Channel USB 2.0 DJ Audio Interface (this one is about 60)

Native Instruments if you're using Traktor, I'm sure the numark one would work fine with traktor, but your safer using a dedicated soundcard.

You will need the Native Instruments one if you want to use timecode vinyl or CD's. You can use any soundcard you want with it if you are just going to use midi controllers to control it, you just need to make sure it has a headphone out so you can monitor your mixes.

Either way, with the audio 2 DJ, you can't use timecodes because it only has a L/R in for the mixer, nothing for the decks. I believe he would need the audio 4 or higher for timecodes. But he shouldn't need timecodes anyway, the ndx800 have midi capability, and full mapping on traktor

Oh ok, I thought he wanted to use timecode controllers. I guess he just wants to use the cd decks as midi controllers.

I was also thinking about the Traktor Scratch Duo 2 system.
