oh and on a similar note, its is so annoying how mainstream dubstep is becoming, like what someone else said about the 2 kids talking about skream owning rinse because hes a badman, lol irritating i hear someone talking on the bus once about dubstep, im used to it with dnb but they were like 'errrr its just all wam wam wam nerrrrrrrrrrrr' and similar screaching sounds, I'm like its not all like that that is just what you get force fed by radios etc! :u:

A more 'accurate' ( ) description I heard was also when on the bus... "It's like electro but realllllyyyyy slooowwwww" :corntard:

EDIT: to be fair, they got the genre type in the right ballpark

I'm not that bothered about Dubstep going down the mainstream path. It's just annoying when you come across people who claim to love Dubstep, yet they haven't even heard of Digital Mystikz, Loefah, Horsepower, Zed Bias, Loefah, Youngsta etc. Its a given that not every fan is going to know / care about the foundations, but when they believe that Circus Records is the Dubstep sound, its wrong on so many levels.

I know what you mean...
"Oh yeah, I like dubstep"
"Really, cool! What producers and DJs you like?"
"Caspa and Rusko"
"Oh, right, er, that it?"
"Yeah...?"
I think it's the image factor of them 'being cool and successful' that makes them attractive to some people more than anything

I wouldn't say I'm embarrassed as such, but conversations I have with people so often go like this:

"What music you into"
"Well I've been mostly in to dubstep and stuff around that these days"
"ugh I really hate dubstep it's all just wob wob wob"

and it's a really sad-sigh inducing moment because like, fair enough if they aren't in to it I'm not going to try and change their minds or anything, but I hate to think that like, my friends are thinking less of me because they're associating me with the sort of crowds that you get at a lot of dubstep nights.

Honestly I'm getting put off dubstep nights recently though. I still listen to loads of it at home, but in Norwich there just isn't a big enough market for deeper nights, and there are some ok nights, but they seem to generally be full of proper aggro people going mental for sweet-shop, or if they're a bit deeper then often there's only about 10 odd people dancing. Should probably just stop bothering with the local nights as much and save up for bigger nights elsewhere - went to wigflex in nottingham a while ago and it was great.

Don't ever be embarrassed about what you're into unless it's like... children or something.

Dubstep is not noise. It is a ray of energy; a beam of particles; a wave of infinite magnitude that cuts through you and puts you on a superior level of sensation that can be felt by every cell in your body.

The only music I'm hesitant to admit to liking is the whole noise and power electronics thing.

It's like admitting that you're really into bondage

That or people think you are pretentious

The only reason you should be embarrassed about listening to dubstep is if it's the only type of music you listen to

where im from everyone bumps dutch house & hiphop. if you listen to dubstep you get your ass beat. im just kidding about the last part. dubstep is big among the rave scene here but other than that its pretty mild.

Sounds like a pretty ideal situation to me.
