Shouldn't have said cuisine. I wasn't judging the cuisine of England based on soggy chips from a chippy at 3 am. Just stating that the curry didn't look very good and had a resemblance to feces.oli90 wrote:You can't judge a countries cuisine based on something that's mainly eaten at 3am by drunk people.cyberneticghost wrote:
I usually don't slate other peoples cuisine, but that looks like it came out of an asshole. Straight diarrhea.

Re: Curry sauce on chips
I had ketchup & jalapenos on my chips last night.
Re: Curry sauce on chips
I'm getting very hungry here thinking about other variants on the fried potatoes / salt / chilli combo - potato wedges with salsa, jalapenos and soured cream, jeera aloo...wub wrote:I had ketchup & jalapenos on my chips last night.
And patatas bravas (I think the name translates as 'macho potatoes'), which I do according to a recipe that I think I got from a mexican mate (although I would have been drunk at the time) that bears no resemblance to anything I've had in spain but which involves fried spuds, bucketloads of chilli, harsh vinegar and coarse grained salt. *drool*

Think I've got a jalapeno craving going on at the moment, just had an egg, prawn spinach & jalapeno baguette for lunch.

If you're ever in Edinburgh get a macaroni pie and chips with lashings of 'chippy sauce' (brown sauce with a shit ton of added vinegar). Thats soggy chips min.Sheff wrote:nah soggy chips are the one

What a load of shit that is, I've never heard such crap before.firky wrote:Yeah it's very pretty in places but it's about ten years behind the rest of the country, a lot of people seem inherently ignorant and intolerant of anyone from outside the region, or worse, not white and British.
Re: Curry sauce on chips
We we're in a chippy in Edinburgh last year and my missus ordered a Cheeseburger and chips. Kinda suprising that the cheeseburger came as two burgers with a slice of processed cheese in the middle battered and deep fried covered with the chippy sauce.Ennayess wrote: If you're ever in Edinburgh get a macaroni pie and chips with lashings of 'chippy sauce' (brown sauce with a shit ton of added vinegar). It was so much nicer than we expected

sorry it's true, every low level job I have worked the general normal middle aged women working there would always be reading the sun commenting on 'fucking pakis' or 'there's some black guy lives next door I'm scared in case he robs me' dun kno if it's the same elsewhere mindhugh wrote:What a load of shit that is, I've never heard such crap before.firky wrote:Yeah it's very pretty in places but it's about ten years behind the rest of the country, a lot of people seem inherently ignorant and intolerant of anyone from outside the region, or worse, not white and British.
even in music terms everyone in Newcastle is intolerant to anything other than Dubstep or DnB pretty much, we are so far behind the times it's incredibly
oh well at least it's not Sunderland, or Boro
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
Re: Curry sauce on chips
one of my best mates has moved back from newcastle and has brought his geordie mate with him (who is a legend btw) and he says exactly the same thing, he loves Newcastle dont get me wrong, but he knows whats up, specially after movin to manchester and seein the difference in stuff that people simply do and look like compared to Tooncapo ultra wrote:sad but truefirky wrote:Yeah it's very pretty in places but it's about ten years behind the rest of the country, a lot of people seem inherently ignorant and intolerant of anyone from outside the region, or worse, not white and British. There it is!SloppySeconds wrote:vinegar is disgusting.. cury sauce ftw bitch
The most fail ive ever seen condensed in to the fewest words! Speechless.
Grease and vinegar are the most natural bed fellows imaginable. Then grease and...well...i dont even know what to call it. Its clearly not food, but whatever this constitutes:
Maltodextrin, Potato Starch, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Onion Powder, Sugar, Salt, Yeast Extract, Wheatflour, Spices, Tomato Powder, Flavour Enhancer (E621), Garlic Powder, Emulsifier (E322) (Soya), Spice Extracts, Lactic Acid, Flavourings (Contain Celery, Wheat). (This is even the bisto home ingredients! God knows what constitutes your standard catering size pack of "curry sauce powder")
Is like an elephant making love to a pig.
(yeah thats right, follow those sentences through...

Re: Curry sauce on chips
it's not really surprising that people are less educated up here though. We are fucking poor compared the rest of the country. And now we are taking the brunt of the cuts. Cool.
I wouldn't say we are intolerant though, it's unfair and untrue. I've worked quite a few different jobs already working with a wide variety of people. At worst you get miseducation. You vary rarely get actual active, vehement intolerance.
