FL9 to Logic Pro are they similar?
So I have been using FL to produce for maybe a year. Im about to pick up Logic Pro pretty soon, I wanted to know how similar the two were? FL studio's is nice, but I get a lot of bugs with it, and would rather run Logic on my new macbook rather than running Windows & FL studio. Are they similar at all, or are they two totally different concepts?
thank you for the help, if you want some feedback or something just let me know.

I've only used Logic but my advice is to stick with what you know, I recently went to a CDR interview with Mala and he said he wished he hadn't change his set-up/room as much as he had because it's more about how well you know your stuff and how you use it.
Sure FL may have bugs but so does Logic, I hear FL10 is coming out soon, maybe give that a look?

Very similar, two of the more similar workflows on the market, might take you some time to get over the simple stuff like routing and adding channels but once you find the hotkeys itll all click. If its not optional, youll make the switch fine, but if you can stay where your comfortable, do it. Dual booting/virtual o.s. not hard on mac.
Bugs shouldnt be with FL though, you ever check your asio drivers/windows?

I use FL and have had a spin around the block with Logic.
On a basic level they work the same. At the the end of the day the work quite similar, to a point. I dont understand you finding FL buggy unless you are using a ropey crack...
It is all down to personal preference tho'. If it works for you it works.

FL10 is out op. And it's amazing . The audio engine sounds alot greater than previoous versions on fl. It might be in my head but i notice something.Like when I was on fl8 I found it very hard to not get the master peaking, it seemed like my mixes were always low cause things were always spiking. In fl10 everything is real smooth audiowise. If you feel the need to go Mac just cause it's "the standard" then upgrade your pc. And stick with fl which you already know

Logic lacks the step sequencer, fl's core is a step sequencer...
might be hard on that tip. really.
it was a hard time for me to adapt, i aint gon lie. but my game has stepped up tons eversince...
i feel Basic A on his reply tho, i could think of daws that are way more different then those two... i consider logic to be some type of hybrid between something like cubase and something like fl. minus the step seq
i still wish i had both, like the homie benga.

Re: FL9 to Logic Pro are they similar?
I moved from FL to Logic about 18 months ago. At first I really disliked it and it did take a lot of getting used to but have appreciated the decision since. My game has stepped up a lot.
It was a shame not to have the step sequencer so unless I change the colours of my logic tracks and piano roles then it is hard to see the structure of my track.
But where there is a big improvement is the usability and workflow. The areas that i think are an improvement on FL:
midi control learning and assigning
mixer interface is a better display
there are fewer "windows" which get cluttered on the screen (they are condensed onto one window (except plugins and inserts))
more ability to personalise with key commands and mouse clicks
the plugins that come with logic like the es2 and sculpture are impressive synths
Logic did really annoy me for about two months because I found it such a change but I'm glad I did it now. It just takes a while to get used to the interface of logic.
As drokkr said: they are just tools.
Both are the same tool but they just get the job done in different ways

Re: FL9 to Logic Pro are they similar?
i used to use logic on pc but switched to FRUITY after 5.5platinum
i switched partly beacause FL looked alot easier to get my ideas down especially working with loop based music but i still go back to logic to do my mixdowns occsionally as i find the mixdown approach alot more professional in terms of ease of use, sidechaining and its routing capabilities as opposed to sidechaining in FL which i find overly long todo
like it was mentioned above, stick to what you know, but theres no harm in trying something new, just dont completely give up using FL and what uve learnt with it

Re: FL9 to Logic Pro are they similar?
thanks for all this information. I will learn Logic while also running a Windows Driver on my Mac so I will have FL Studio to keep my creative juices flowing while I try to master the new program. again thank you all for the input, if anyone's trying to get some feedback for their tracks let me know, ill take a look in a bit.
