Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
i have an issue
after messing with bouncing shit to audio, chopping up, reversing, effecting, reversing, chopping, etc etc... i accidentally deleted a track which was solo'd. now, logic thinks the track is still solo'd, even though it is no longer there and will not play any audio unless i have my master solo'd. any way i can fix this?

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
To record the sounds you're using from your hardware synthesiser you will need to record through audio I'm afraid, MIDI is only a data-handling language and will only allow you to record in data such as what keys you play etc.Hypefiend wrote:quick question. how would I be able to record the sounds from my hardware synth into logic? I have tried adding a new "External Midi" track didn't work and I have tried inserting the "External Instrument" au in Logic to an Instrument track and to no avail. help is much appreciated. And, yes I have my hardware synth hooked up via midi-to-usb cable
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
damn is there any other daw where I would be able to record midi notes through what I am playing from my synth but it being my synth? tell me if that made any sense.wirez wrote:To record the sounds you're using from your hardware synthesiser you will need to record through audio I'm afraid, MIDI is only a data-handling language and will only allow you to record in data such as what keys you play etc.Hypefiend wrote:quick question. how would I be able to record the sounds from my hardware synth into logic? Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
No DAW will allow you to do that. This http://virus.info/page/render/lang/en/p ... ug_in.html may be the closest thing to what you're after.Hypefiend wrote:damn is there any other daw where I would be able to record midi notes through what I am playing from my synth but it being my synth? tell me if that made any sense.wirez wrote:To record the sounds you're using from your hardware synthesiser you will need to record through audio I'm afraid, MIDI is only a data-handling language and will only allow you to record in data such as what keys you play etc.Hypefiend wrote:quick question. how would I be able to record the sounds from my hardware synth into logic? EDIT: actually you can do that in any hardware synth which accepts midi in if you're soundcard has a midi out port.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Why don't you just use midi to record your notes, then send em back to your keyboard with midi out and then record the sound from your synth? That allows you to use quantizing and stuff like that.

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Not sure if this has been covered.... but proper routing for time based processors i.e. delays and reverbs.
create aux track, insert your processor of choice however you want it with the mix at 100%
On the tracks you want routed to the aux track, use sends to aux track then adjust the send levels on the individual tracks to achieve the effect you're looking for.
Was bussing the output individually to the aux track...but using sends lets you refine the reverb for each track and doesn't add another fader in your gain structure.
Also, bussing to one instance of a time based processor saves on your cpu.

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Not only that, but your track will sound like its in 'one space' and not several random sounding reverb spaces.
it helps to make a more coherent sounding song

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Was that an answer without a question? :S Lol

Good call! You're from Ghent? :O When I was over in Belgium I was told that was the place to be, apparently you've got loads of sluts who look like video girls?
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
Well i don't know about that, but it IS the place to be. Went to see Mala two days ago and two girls were licking and fingering each other on the bar.wirez wrote:Good call! quick question
after watching reso's masterclass (awesome) I noticed on his mixer, channels are grouped together with empty 'spaces' between them. is this done with groups or what?

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
is it better running my projects from an external drive?
and if so do i want a relatively empty one?

Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
I'd say so, depending on interface, try stick with fw400 or fw800 although I think usb 2.0 still cuts it for audio.wizeguy wrote:is it better running my projects from an external drive?

Works better when the drive spins 7200rpm.
Empty or not shouldn't impact unless it's quite old.
Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
How do you "paint it white"? are you talking about track/channel fader colors?raincoatdisaster wrote:i believe he just creates an empty bus paints it white.. splits his groups.. thats what i doPony_Boy wrote:quick question
