What Has Happened To Skream and Benga?

Post by Turner » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:28 pm

i dunno about the rest of you but skream and benga have come straight off my favorite producers list, moreso skream,
skream making dirty tunes like nefarious and benga making tunes that sound like he's spend 5 minutes on the melody,
i still respect them but just dont think they are what they used to be

also the radio one shows playing loads of dirty tunes when it started off playing sick tunes by distance etc.
but because theyve started getting dirty dubstep big it's steamrollered a bit so now other producers are making more dirty dubstep eg caspa, coki (tracks like boomba and carbon aliens i mean - not dirty but not good compared to his old stuff)

ive got nothing against hype tunes, because theres a difference between hype and dirty,
for example wibbler and heavy hitter are sick hype tunes where as nefarious is dirty

and have people forgotten how much of a headache dirty dubstep is in clubs compared to well produced sick tunes?
there are so many hype tunes that arent dirty - look at distance and horsepower for examples,

i just think that producers like skream and benga need to remember what they've produced before and look at what they're doing now,

favorite people in dubstep at the moment have to be breakage, distance, youngsta, mala, lx one and kryptic minds

Have to agree with you but with the respect Skream and benga hold you have to accept that it's up to them what they want to produce/play.

agree with you but still, they play what they like, and what they want to play

fair play to them, its not my cup of tea at all but still have respect for them both

Skream and Benga don't owe anyone shit. Not me, not you, not the dubstep scene, not anyone.

I don't like what they do, but there's so much other good shit coming out, I don't care.

Like plastician they've gone a bit to the filth side of things - not my cup of tea but still got mad respect for them, yeah I probs won't listen to their show avidly any more but its their music they can make and play what they like - instead of moaning on the internet find some stuff you do like or better still, make your own music.

Come on, moaning is what the internet was invented for. Moaning and porn, obviously.

Not when its about other artists who regularly visit this forum and take stuff like this to heart. It's easy to moan but if your not doing anything to try and make a difference musically; are you really entitled to be slaging off these artists who created a whole new style of global music? This forum has a bad reputation for bitching about artists who regularly take time to talk with fans on here

Surely the point of this forum is to discuss things related to dubstep? This is one thing to discuss. Always seems like as soon as any artist gets complained about people aren't 'entitled' to talk about it. Ridiculous idea, its like telling people they cant have an opinion on football players or art or whatever.

I'm not big on moaning myself (prefer to stick to positive vibes and focus on what's good out there - plenty of it) but the internet is like the ultimate outlet for free speech and expression. As long as people aren't being outright rude and offensive I'd say they are "entitled" to say whatever they want.

If you never noticed those 2 are, as someone else on here said once, the original bro's...

Also, remember, they are two of the most popular DJs in dubstep right now, at least they play SOME dark subby bits, they have to appeal to audiences aside from just you though, contrary to what you might have been told, you arent the center of the universe o.p.

At the end of the day. NONE of us would be here without some form of influence from either them.

If you think otherwise you have not got a clue.

It's their music. They can do what they want. If people like it, more power to them.
