Wash your fucking dreads!

Post by elementalism » Fri Apr 27, 2007 6:08 pm

Inspired by my experiences at Square Roots in Brighton and bare other dubstep nights.

Picture the scene:

Group of dreadlocked ravers who came to the rave, fucked on ket, expecting there to be gabba in the main room at Volks.

Dreadlocked Kethead 1 - "Where's the gabba man, this stuff is, like, well slow man."

Dreadlocked Kethead 2 - "Yeah man, yeah. Well slow, who are these arty people man, I guess Honey Club shut early, ha ha ha"

Dreadlocked Kethead 1 - "Ha ha, yeah man totally. Let's rave though man, yah!"

I had the misfortune of standing behind these two fuckheads for a short period of time, and after having a mouthful of DK1's hair once, and a dipping of DK2's hair in my pint twice, I got a bit pissed off.

I had dreads when I was a kid. My dad has dreads and a dreadlock beard. I've got nothing against people having dreads (except girls, it's not a good look at all), but WASH YOUR FUCKING HAIR PLEASE.

There was bare people with dreads at Volks last night, and most of them had the most offkey smelling hair ever. It's mustiest, grimiest smell I've ever experienced and it's hard to dodge a dutty piece of hair and beeswax when you're trying to skank.

For anyone on this forum who has dreads, please pay attention to what I'm writing. I don't want your dreads in my mouth or face, in my pint or bottle or anywhere else - ESPECIALLY if they're not clean!!

im going to be very controversial here and i do apologise prior to offending anyone,

but i really dont think dreadlocks suit white people. in fact i'll go all the way and say i think it looks stupid. this is just my opinion. perfect for black/ mixed race people. but i think it looks ghey on whities.

sorry again. only my opinion.

to each their own. to a dread its more than a hair-style for one person to like and another to not. to a dread, they are roots.. grown in connection with something that has nothing to do with a hair style.. and for a white boy with pin-straight hair that locked up without any bees-wax or whatever, locked naturally, its a blessing.. you dont need to understand.
blanket statements are dangerous because you may be disrespecting someone you have no intention of disrespecting. respect.

lets see what poax has got to say on this one. getting hit by a dreadlock is not very nice and some times they smell so bad it makes me feel ill. but then i dont think you can really 'clean' them as such? allow all the hating

I creased at this thread title straight away cos I've had the smelly dreadlock slap on several occasions at dubstep and other events

Some dreads don't smell, I am white and I have to say in my experiences of dreads the really fetid smelling ones have always belonged to rastas of the Celtic or European contingent. To be honest they look like shite as well, hence the term "shitlocks", I think you at least have to have curly hair to have dreads, but white hair makes more grease cause white skin/scalps are used to cold, dry air, and this extra grease gets caught up in the dreadlocks and makes them pong! No one wants to get head lice as well that'd fuck yo shit up!
Saying that tho, i'll take smelly crustie any day over lads wearing too much aftershave and hair gel drinking too much and starting fights!
