Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
stopped cutting about 18 months ago; was doing solo dj sets more rarely and the live (ableton-controlled) Sub Swara sets much, much more.
also i'd gotten a couple of batches of dubs cut via mail that weren't 100% awesome; in that case, what you've got is what you've got. The 1 dude who cut great dubs in NYC has moved to Berlin, and I haven't been impressed w/ the other local options.

SO worth it. You know when your 10" acetate weighs more than a vinyl 12", you're in for a good time.

Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
What's the deal with acetate vs vinyl and are the acetate plates more of a one-off cut?
Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
@epochalypso Where are you getting your stuff cut bro?
Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
As far as I know....they're different materials... Acetates are usually 10-15 cheaper.vertx wrote:What's the deal with acetate vs vinyl and are the acetate plates more of a one-off cut?

Haha so do I. I don't even have decks. Playing support for Ikonika in Brisbane soon though, so I can't wait to hear it on a loud system.legend4ry wrote:I wanna hear that.
Not putting it on the internet, can send you a 320 if you're interested though.
http://www.dubstudio.co.uk. They're pretty good. Cheap - acetates and vinyl dubs are the same price which is cool.Shum wrote:@epochalypso Where are you getting your stuff cut bro?

Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
Recently decided that I'm going to stick with my vinyl and sack the cdj idea until i'm actually forced into it.
So acetate, if you look atfer it properly it will still sound good? I saw an interview with Mala and he said the same thing, so coming from him it must be true. Can't fucking wait to get one cut. I need a job.
Also, regarding tunes that are digi only but have been mastered and released, can you cut them? And mp3's can you send them off to a cutting house? Loads of those giveaways by D1 are so sick.

Re: So who actually cuts dubplates?
Yeah, if you take care of them, acetates will last a long time. I have some from like 12 years ago that are still playable. The one thing that wears out fast is where you cue them up.

Yeah you can hear it on all the old ones when they get the pull up. I can't wait to cut a few.mks wrote:Yeah, if you take care of them, acetates will last a long time. I have some from like 12 years ago that are still playable. The one thing that wears out fast is where you cue them up.
