A Label kinda thread, but specifically...

Post by Debaser1 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:36 am

I know there's a thread on labels, but this is rather selfish of me. I need/want some advice.

I've had a lot of positive feedback about the track in my sig, and I really want to send it to a label. But, how do I go about it, and what's the best label to send to for that type of tune? Honestly when it comes to stuff like this I become a noob again :6:

Any help from you forum heads is muchly appreciated! :4:

Don't know what to tell you because frankly I'm the worst at sending out and even worse than that at getting back to labels who want my tunes, furthermore that's only ever happened twice, and I'm aiming for the stars no matter how bad I think my tunes are :6: .

BUT
I wish you the best of luck, really a great tune man.

Just thought I'd give you lot an update. Just got an email back from a dude at Hyperdub. He said he liked the track and gave me some pointers on how to improve it. Man, if only all labels were as friendly. With the demo panel on here too, my opinions on labels is starting to change for the better :)

That is nice man.

Edit: That track is sick you already know I think that, but it's worth saying again.

What did they say? was it more about polished production or creative enrichment? (be interested to know if your willing to share)

And what you going by Rufa or Debaser or is it a genre thing??

Good stuff!

Debaser's always been my DSF name. Always wanted it to be my production name, but I think the Pixies would have something to say about that... So Rufa it is.
And he just gave me a few pointers on the track, production tips and creative. Chuffed he said he liked it though.Good to know that labels aren't necessarily these big bad men in suits with targets to hit.

ahh cool, yea thats good to know you got a response =)
oh its a pixies track (which should be okay) im not very lern-ed so had to google it but did you know?! The lyrics are based on a surrealist film by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí called Un chien andalou. The film notoriously opens with a scene in which a woman's eye is slit by a razor, which is referenced in the song lyric "Slicin' up eyeballs/I want you to know." .... :o
