Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@NG_GAMMA: It needs a lot more. The bass is very repititive, which isn't a terrible thing, unless it's the main focus. The bass needs something more if you plan to move the track around that particular aspect. I like the vocal, but it's a bit ear piercing at times. I would say eq out some of the higher frequencies, or just turn it down a little bit. The beat could really use a bit more variation to it as well. Preferably in the high hats, but I think it would help to make the kick and snare patterns a bit more aggressive. You don't just need to do 1 and 3.
@Debaser1: I instantly got a "Wild West" vibe from your track. I really like those Lofi sounding melodies you're using. The pattern on the sub bass fits very nicely. I would suggest bringing those mids on the bass up a bit. They feel really weak, and I think they could definitely sit well with some more power. The second part is really nice. It's almost old school video game style progression. Again, feels like everything could just use some beefing up. Overall things just feel a bit weak. Good stuff though. It's different, and I like that.
@Samkablaam: Right off the bat I love the intro. The beat is perfect. The vocal fits in perfectly. I was actually expecting more of a DnB style beat on the drop, but it works. Not much else I can really say about it. It's a great track.
Well, I was gonna try and do more, but my internet is sucking right now, and it's taking forever just to get through a couple tracks. Time to make a phone call.
Anyway, here's something I've been working on a little bit here and there. It's more of an ambient dubstep/2step kinda thing. I personally think it still needs work, I just hit blocks on certain projects. So maybe some suggestions would help me out.

@rhek - Thanks for the advice man gonna work on it more to get some switch ups! how do you mean nice tune man, been getting into this side of dnb for a while and really like it! good work, reminds me of my mate called fortitude... check him out on soundcloud! like it alot though, like the vocal stabs. perhaps some more constant 16ths could make it abit more flowing at some points?
@JBE - thanks, i will work on the progression and changing it up a bit. nice chilled tune man, really nice strings and kick... i like how it almost kind sounds like it sucking back at the tail end. not sure what else it needs maybe some more stabby strings?

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
first of all happy 420 everyone. some deep reviews coming from me lol
jbe - listening now. the intro is solid so far. reminds me of nine inch nails with the sounds. thats big for me. the beat comes in pretty solid. damn im digging this. i think your trying to much with expecting more on this track so far its damn nice. the atmosphere is top notch. overall its easily 9/10 for me. i would play it out. 320 when its all said and done? reminds me of moments in loveee at the same time. damn bro nice work
rebel - sounds need to be brought up. everything sounds the same level. and it gets lost. i dig the vocals and what you did with em. just heard a yoi. insta fail sometimes. hope it isnt a played out yoi when it drops. short sounds short feedback. i like it i just hope it doesn't turn into your run of the mill bro step yoi ye ye yoieye bass
rhek - always in the mood to hear some good dnb. the stabs sound a little high to me. but thats just a preference. dammmn. tons of energy and a solid surrounding for the beat. i think the synth sound could be brought done just a little, remember its dnb. not dnbs s meaning synth. but i love the sound you got going so far.
Soundcloud
something i was cemin with for the dsf comp until i figured out no granular synthesis on the sounds. so fuck it continued and came up with this. have to adjust levels and shit but it will come later

NG GAMMA- time-- i really like the chopped up the drums in the intro.. drop is wicked; kick and snare are killa ;i like how yu used alotta of the original vocals and not just a little snippet; helps the track. i think the chopped drums would sound good around 2:54;; nice. GLUE REED-Crystal stare-- nice use of panning during the intro, the snare could use a little attention in my opinion;; not too much tho cuz it sits well w. the track as is, a little more umph couldnt hurt tho;; like the chime sound work;; nice subbass layer yu got going on;; vocals are trippy;; this song makes me envison myself absolutely losing myself and having an out of body experience for some reason. JBE- Lost in a dream-- i really like the deep bass and the chilled out spacey vibes i get from the whole track;; it makes me imagine myself crossing a galaxy and landing on some type of aquatic world where everything is beautiful;; i cant really find anything to complain about tbh.

OPRS-Purple fish-- really heavy bass, love it.;; abrupt synth work works great;; i enjoyed the delay on the snare;; the little noises before the drop get an A; keep workin on it!

@Rebel, make sure you're critiquing the songs people put up here as WIPs, not the ones in people's signatures, lol. But I like the way you used the vocals in yr song, just think it needs more to either fill it out or give it more weight. Like, some incidentals or another synth that could come in would give it more depth and make it a more compelling song.
@OPRS, again like I said for someone else, the huge tear out isn't really up my alley, but I think you have a good groove going and the bongos work well in adding some shuffle and I like how you've pitched them. Also big ups to the bass you have come in around 2:14ish, like the reverse and then it just sits. If you make a song with that sound being the prominent bass line, I'd be digging it hard.
@JBE, this is the type of sound that's up my alley. Strong aware on the drum sound you have. I wish I could get the extra hits in my song to shuffle and sound like yours. Gotta practice more but yeah, good stuff man. 'Future' sounding though I know some people don't like that word here. The only thing I'm not big on is the twinkling little synth you have on some of the 1's. I think the song is pretty deep and has an emotion without it and it sort of detracts from the feeling and sound.
Repostin' this since I think it got lost on the last page. Sort of 'indie' but yeah, idk I think it's still dubsteppish. I want to find someone who can sing and have them do vocals for the main part of the song and if I had a way to record, I'd record electric guitar for the last couple bars just banging out the chords loud like.

no problem, just letting ya know!
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Glue Reed cool mix man, probably not my area of judging. as i dont listen to much that kind of stuff.
But i love the end with the percussion coming in, it sounds big.
@oprs cool ideas man. I do think the snare needs more reverb at the intro. but aside from that the idea of it is really cool and original to me ears.
Got some cool mechanical sounding basses in that mix which i dig.
Whats the secret there?
@therebel730 Hey man liking the bass and the choppy vocals.
Digging the intro idea
this is my 2nd attempt at producing, Id say a good day spent. excuse the headphone mix

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
i tried fixing the intro,, ended up withthis,, ehhhh Soundcloud
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@therebel730 I feel this could use some work still with things such as structuring and tweaking the bassline itself. Maybe you should throw some pads or more layers such as percussion. Diggin the vocals though
@glue Really diggin the ambient like effect you got going on. Maybe a few small sweeps would help with the transitions
@JBE Got a really nice two step riddim going, if it was me I'd add a little reverb on the hats but I really like what you got going on.
Been working on this recently, still needs alot of work and requires some fixing (transitions + ending is just something I forgot to take off lol)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@therebel730 - interesting in your face vocal rhythm. I feel the base is just too dominant in the mix. As Bola said, a bit of work on atmospheres, pads, etc.
@Dreamthief - really enjoyed the fluttery synth you use in the background in the beginning, not really feeling the scratchy sound before the carnival style tune.
@JBE - Really enjoying Glimmer dude, preferred it to the other tracks you have up. Keeping the sounds interesting, movement, etc. Liking it a lot. I like the occasional squelch stab. Don`t be afraid to let your snare and hi-hat rhythms drift a little.

That sounds gangsta as fuck! Maybe some more in the drums, nothing big, but subtle changes, rides & cymbals etc
The tune I'd like reviewed

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@bola- really feelin the intro; and the drop;; transitions seem rather smooth(wish i had it like that lol) ;; the ending just needs to be worked on
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@bola- The one thing that stood out to mention as a critique is that the bass sounds dry. Have you put any effects on the bass aside from the lfo? Try adding light reverb or a less stock distortion or mess with the wave forms in the synth you're using so it has more character and depth. Light Reverb + light distortion on top of saws will give you that sort of 'metal' coki sound that adds a distinct quality to the instrument beyond just the rhythm of it.
