they were in string cheese incident

they could go up and take a shit in a bucket and a few thousand people would show up to it, get high, and dance to it

id really like to look into this odd connection as of late of all the jam band neo hippy kids getting in to dubstep.

it doesn't really seem like a natural evolution to me...

schwagstock and similar festivals seemed to have a jam stage and a dance music stage as jam band festival type things have a similar vibe of us outdoor raves.

^yes. and i think psytrance is perhaps the "missing link"

not that it sounds very similar either but i think the tempo, and the enough-drugs-that-everything-sounds-good helped a lot.

i'm kinda leaning toward this as the reason.

the musics are just so sonically different albeit equally terrible though.

tribal house is the missing link

i've been to hippy events where some asshole is playing a box of old Junior Vasquez tunes and like 9 dudes with dreads have bongos n shit out going at it with the records.

I think the live band and electronic sounds can merge very well. With electronic music, you get sounds and tones and beats you don't usually hear with live instruments, and with live instruments riffing and improvising is available.

i think it's hilarious that a middle aged jamband can have a sustainable sideproject such as eoto and make as much as they do playing to fairly large crowds (by american edm standards, at least).

Just saw them open for Bassnectar in Albany. They were fucking horrible and only played for like 30 minutes.

They sound like the most basic Dubstep you can make.

BTW that video is fucking funny as hell. What is wrong with the one dude in the audience?

Is no-one noticing that the wobble in the first video sounds like it was made by someone who's been producing for about a week?

being forced to experience that sounds exactly like the opposite of tight to me... srsly...
