I used to be a regular at these parties thrown by Steez Promo in Bmore generally but have now moved into philly, richmond, d.c, and pitt. But the more I have gone the less I have enjoyed myself and it has even gotten to the point were I just don't go to their parties anymore. The only problem is they do run the "dubstep" scene here and there arn't any other good acts that come through anymore. I even heard from a guy who works for Steez that told me how they couldn't get Benga or Skream to come because no one would know who they were. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!
Apart from me a few others i know, everyone worhsips Steez and the events they throw but I find them to be pretty silly, and it almost offends me to see dubstep popularized to such an extent when people dont even know of Skream, Benga, DMZ, and producers alike. Clearly something is wrong when Distance is coming to DC and the venue has a 200 ticket limit because the venue is so small. Im not trying to hear a bunch of Brostep skrillex hate (even tho I am up there with the worst of them), but my question is:
Is there anyone in the DMV area who is feeling the same way? I feel like I am one of few, but I am hoping there are more out there.....smh

but it's the same shit here in my neck of the woods
they come by the thousands for the brostep but they sleep on the innovators of the genre

Pretty sad state of affairs tbh, the dubstep lineup for Starscape is pretty disappointing. Steez has put on some great nights and I respect everything they've done for the scene but they definitely cater to a certain audience and have a monopoly on dubstep night in the Baltimore area.
I didn't know about the 200 limit on Distance's show, I'm glad I got my ticket online. Big up to 3D for their recent string of great bookings (even though I can't go to them) and big up to Joe Nice for holding down the original sound in this area!

'Dub' Nation Philly had Excision, Datsik, and Antiserum as headliners 3 months in a row.
The only big dubstep show in Philly, for 3 months running.
And tickets only cost $20 a piece!
Occasionally they bring some deeper dub acts like Boregore through though.
And sometimes they just play electro house most of the night.
Awesome.

well its great to hear that there are others who feel the situation, i think a "sad state" is definently the way to put it. Yea i dont even really want to go to Starscape but if I do I will most certainly not be there for the dubstep, but im sure itll be a good time.
I don't really see the scene changing at all but I hope people wise up because I would love to see Mala or anyone pushing those sounds
