i am non-smoker and i hate cigarettes in clubs. aside from me smelling like shit next day, sometimes it´s just unbreathable there.
on the other hand they at least overpower the sweaty smell of everyone around

heh... I do appreciate the cover cig smokers provide for blunts and spliffs to be had. Better to keep security guessing, than to stick out like sore thumbs

to answer OP's question of why dont they just go down the road? because the music isn't playing down the road. you go round the corner for a joint, you're talking about a good half hour of music you could miss

I am all for weed. But if I thought that by smoking either weed, or some tobacci inside a club, that I might set off a potentially life-threatening asthma attack for someone, I would gladly step outside to light up. It's all about respect innit?

I don't think I've ever been to a venue, bar Amsterdam, that doesn't have a smoking area. I used to smoke both cigs and spliffs myself but I'd never dream of smoking indoors. I enjoy going out to the smoking area, chatting for a moment about what's going on inside and once I'm finished heading in and getting lost in it.
If the venues don't have a smoking area then it's a different case I guess but it's all about context too, if they place is allowing re-entering and you can just smoke outside then that's grand but if it's on a busy street with strict security then I can see why someone would smoke inside. Saying that I live in Ireland and if you were to smoke inside you'd be kicked out right away, irregardless of context [although as mentioned I've never seen a place without a smoking area, or the option to go outside and back in, so it's a bit irrelevant].

It's just coz they've been dancing so much.
The worst fucking thing is when someone in front of you doesn't have a top on, and your face (lips) bump right into their sweaty back. It's fucking grim.

I thought the smoking ban was a good idea. Can see where the OP is coming from, I still smoke in a rave though, albeit very rarely.
Was in Amsterdam from DMZ last month and the 'smoking rooms' were actually disgusting, I don't want a cig that much...just a pure cancer box.

Na, that's no excuse. I skank out just as hard as the next person but I know how to wash properly so I don't stink of B.O. There's sweat and then there's B.O.
I feel you on the sweaty back comment though. That's what smoking in clubs was good for - if sweaty men get too close, burn them with the cherry!

haha to whoever said cancer box. Remind me of those smoking rooms in airports that are cloudy as fuck. Do they still exist or am i living in the past by about 6 years...
True also with the sweat smell in clubs, however ive noticed that clubs that do offers on Vodka Red Bulls ends up smelling of redbull. To anyone whos been to that indie club in Manchester called 5th Avenue you'll know. (I went once about 2 years ago. Never been since)

haha the worst is when you walk in and have to step past an early puker, all banged up on whatever chemicals plus booze, slumping in front of a pool of their own vomit, and its only 10:30... that corner of the club will burn your eyes for the rest of the night. Gross.
