most people on this forum were teenagers... young teenagers 10 years ago, let alone 20 years ago when osama started bullshit against the us.
They can't make the direct connection that the stupid shit that happened on 9-11 toppled a domino that started all the bad shit we're going through today in our country. Lifted the veil on the american dream for a few generations of people. When they became adults shit was already fucked up they don't remember what it was like when everything was kinda peaceful for us.
No dillusions that this solves everything but hopefully it can serve as a symbolic first step in the right direction.
An 11 year old was running around a family’s house I was over tonight, screaming “We did it. We did it” To which I replied… “We? You weren’t even alive? You don’t even know who he is or what happened” To which he said “I was alive. I was an egg…” then continued screaming and shaking his fist at the TV like the rebels just captured Darth Vader
People are brainwashed. Even people who didn’t exist in 2001.

Don't know whether to or at this story. The egg quote is very cute though.

Exactly. This is a huge step in terms of escaping this ridiculous culture of fear we have in the states. There are too many villains. Now it'll be much harder to come up with excuses for shipping off kids to kill people in the middle east. If I wasn't so tired i'd be out with my buds waving flags and getting smashed, it's a great day for america!

when I was 11 i taped the ninja turtles pizza disc launcher to my arm and thought I was mega man and ran around knocking on doors shooting people with plastic pizzas

We lost 7 people in my squadron. Anywho gotten calls from about a dozen of the people I served with asking if I was up watching this. Not one of them seemed happy, they seemed kinda confused. Acknowledge it was a good thing but it's more of the close of a very long chapter for a lot of people. Kinda odd.

YEA, a huge step..
until we start launching more attacks on libya and pissing off gaddafi.
i mean it isn't so bad right? we just killed his son and 3 of his grandchildren.
right now i would be more worried about him then 3 osama bin ladens
im glad what has happened, happened. but this is only One step out 30 we are embarking on.
its just kinda odd that last night that happened. and today we release all this about osama..

Sorry to hear that... Yeah, I mean it's a victory purely on moral grounds. A bit superficial, definitely. But I really don't see the harm in celebrating it.

From what I remember, taking action in libya was a U.N. resolution, so I think our own foreign policy had little to do with it.
we don't all run for beer and jump into a car to party when fox news tells us too. please don't let the media spoon feed your knee jerk reactions. think about the last 15 yrs of foreign policy. think about our diplomatic position on 10 sept 2001, and the smoke and mirrors we had to go through to get to this news tonight. as pkay said, for those of us old enough to have been through 9.11/afghanistan/iraq, or mourning friends; tonight was a moment to reflect and call up loved ones to talk.
osama was hunted down all these years for the symbolic victory his death would give to our foreign policy. read your history. america must take down outspoken enemies. its been that way from pearl harbor onwards. read your chomsky. he was talking about these empire patterns 30yrs ago.
its funny that special forces killed him... the US would never let him openly speak in a court. why not capture him like saddam hussein? the whole thing stinks... killing him pretty much kept everything speculative with his relationship to the US.

yeah really suspicious since the US did interviews and specials with him, and then once the war started he's a mystery man...
to me, this reeks of bullshit... this is a re-election campaign in my eyes, it will take a strong argument to convince me otherwise
Obama struggled hard in his speech. I've never seen him have such trouble. In particular talking about 9/11. I don't know what that means, if anything. Could be this was rushed, could be it was planed to look rushed. This stuff is impenetrable.
I certainly could imagine circumstances where it is easier to reliably take Osama out rather than risk an attempted capture and a potential escape. But it sure is a heeeellluuuvvaa lot better for the US power structure with him dead.
Really can't help but feeling like this is all theatre, the donald, the birth certificates, the osama. baaa.
Osama bin Laden, the long-time figurehead of the al Qaeda terrorist network, has been buried at sea after being killed in a U.S. raid in Pakistan.
U.S. officials told CBS News that bin Laden's body would be handled in accordance with Muslim traditions, which include strict rules on burial taking place within 24 hours after death.
Bin Laden was a Saudi national, but officials tell CBS News that the Kingdom was unwilling to have his remains repatriated.
He was killed in a U.S. raid launched early Monday in the relatively-well-heeled town of Abbottabad, near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

thats great. no evidence ?
Is this for real? After we kill him, we suddenly have reverence for his Muslim beliefs? Wtf, bro, wtf.
