Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
What is the performer actually doing? Is it messing with the amp or the frequencies? I don't have Massive.
Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
You could do both. You don't need performer per se, you can do it manually in your daw via automation. I actually prefer this method, as it gives you more control..onelove. wrote:What is the performer actually doing? Is it messing with the amp or the frequencies? I don't have Massive.

Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
why do you prefer automation? You can get more diverse sounds with the performer because of the different shapes.
Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
automation is the same thing as performer except all shapes are custom drawn and theres more flexibility/controldrake89 wrote:why do you prefer automation? You can get more diverse sounds with the performer because of the different shapes.
Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
That's not true at all. Although hardly limiting - you -are- limited by performer's shapes - if you draw it in my hand there are no limitations, other than the timeline.drake89 wrote:why do you prefer automation? You can get more diverse sounds with the performer because of the different shapes.
It's a personal thing. I hate having a wobble in the first bar, then having to turn off the wobble, and change the attack/release on the cutoff for a whomp sound.etc. I'd rather just draw it all in

Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
ive heard some people on this forum talk about custom drawing of automation lanes with wacoms and ish..
so no the performer is NOT as convenient as an automation lane.. maybe a little more user friendly if ur not geared properly, but not as flexible...
but u kno what they say : limitations encourage creativity

But which is it thats giving the stuttered effect? Is it automating the cut-off or automating the amplitude, or do they hold the same effect?amphibian wrote:You could do both. Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
It could be both. A stuterring effect is simply achieved by making a very sharp change (aka, < 5ms) from a very low point to a high point (or vise versa). The effect you're after depends on your tune. Volume will remove everything, at 0%, as will cutoff - however volume at 25% will lower the amplitude of the entire synth/sound, whereas 250hz cutoff (let's say we're using a lowpass), means that the lower frequencies up to that point are still in tact, and everything over 250hz will be rolled off gradually. Apologies if you know this already, one can never know for sure.onelove. wrote:But which is it thats giving the stuttered effect? A stutter effect is simply achieved by quick, drastic changes in any parameter you want to automate. OR it can be achieved by chopping up your bassline and resampling (another time) haha.

I don't even have to think about this I can picture in my head how to make it stutter like that easily. You can do it in the performer or put your Lfo to sync and turn the rate up for a quick second every 2 beats

As has been mentioned before, use the perf in Massive.
When you click load curve, look at the shapes on the bottom right (one 'curve' with 2/3/4 peaks), those should give you that effect.

Re: how to make a 'stuttering' wobble?
unsync your lfo then, put a macro on it and open it up just a little on the rate, now automate the macro with the same principle, it will be unsynced and sound more stuttering, but will still stay in beat.FuzionDubstep wrote:well yes, but its easier said than done.. i've tried that many times and made a kind of stuttered effect but not the one I'm looking for.. but thanks for the advice although I do already know thisRandoRando wrote:I don't even have to think about this I can picture in my head how to make it stutter like that easily. Had a play about a got some nice results using the automation clip in FL studio.
What sort of wave-form or shape is used in the first posts example? Would it be like an saw on each beat with little depth? i.e. |\|\|\|\

shape of the automation is like this but in a different sequence...this is an image I made for another 'how I maek thiz wobblez?' thread which was similar to this...and I really didnt feel like making a new image for this..onelove. wrote:Had a play about a got some nice results using the automation clip in FL studio.
