Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
why do you want to make music?
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
well if you enjoyed making it then continue
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
just for fun? i know since its just a hobby i shouldn't be worried about if it sounds good or not but i just wanted some feedback and advice for producing being as this is just my first song.
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
i like this... mellow, emotional, but mate your levels are all wrong, the drum patter is nice and are the glitchy drums sounds and fx, but them drums need turning UP....this owuld be good for a comedown so i am feeling your concept... you need to work them levels.... DONT GIVE UP THOUGH! peace
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
just keep practicing then, its not bad but yeah like the wests is saying...definitely sort out the levels
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
Thank you guys thats exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Like I said this is my first track, none of my friends produce or have any intrset in it so I don't really have anyone to share, compare, or critique with buy hey I guess that's what the internets for eh? Thanks again

so, your aking if you should quit, but you need to start something in order to quit it.
three words for you "first song" and "17" I dont know what happened to my first tune, but it was CRAPtastic. That I know.
I posted my last tune I made on here, its way better than my first.

If you enjoy it keep doing it, you will learn something new every time you produce a new track.
Keep asking for feedback too and maybe get involved in some collaborations that is how you learn.
Computer Music and Future Music are sometimes useful.
Lots of people tend to stick with one software - i think it is good to try different ones to get new perspective and ideas etc BUT if you just starting out it is probably best to pick one and get to know it really well (reading manuals will not help use them as reference and learn is to do your own tracks and learn 'on the job'..
Everyone has their favourite software but IMO it is down to you not the software you use so once you have selected one and go for it.
Cheers

Unless you want to become the next Magnetic Man all by yourself, you should not give up if you pulled this together in four hours.Bear_ wrote:this is my first song i've ever semi put together, just wondering if i should try my shot at something else or stick with making music. im just 17 and this took like 4 hours to put together from scratch. is it alright? haha

I feel like I'm the only one on this forum who hasn't produced his/her first track in a short amount of time.
Still busy with my 'first' one, got 59 WIP's, and it sounds like fucking SHIT.
The shit took like 1,5 months to put together from scratch.
And my shit ain't alright.
Keep it up.
Re: so should i give up and crawl in a hole?
good point, my song The colossus took like 2 weeks to really bang out and im still remastering and remastering it in prep for the may 22 deadline, not to mention the 6 or so months before hand that I sat just making tons of synth patches. only quitters give up, and quitters never win, if you are first you are last, reach for the stars, just do it, change we can use, hang in there, and any other slogans that help you out.

Oh and @ TS:
Experiment with other styles!
Don't just stick to EDM, but make Jazz or Deathcore or Funk or whatever.
For example, I just grabbed my Bass and Guitar and composed a couple of reggae licks.
It was really fun to do!
Basically, I think maintaining the Fun-factor high in your production is the most important thing, if you enjoy doing whatever you do, you will do it a lot and then you will learn a lot as well which gives you knowledge to make songs you would like to make

Try different styles and mix styles together, you learn and get some interesting results.
