For those of you who didn't seem to understand the meaning of my post.
exactly.
First we went over all of this above, however you kind of forfeited your respected opinion in this post when you decided to end the discussion by saying im not reading *whine *whine.

I am honored when people are interested in my patches, in a world of creating art it is a beautiful thing and it amounts to that person using that patch in a way I did not come up with. (How can that be a bad thing at all unless all you care about is money)
I make music because its my hobby/passion, I made my living around the abilities I learned while consistently trying to perfect my hobby/passion.

But in the end the most important thing about this page is Krispy's post. (fuck im on the 2nd page)

Make your own sound.

This gets posted to the forum like 10 times a day... at least.

(getting kinda old hearing it so much lol)

While i agree 100% with this, its also silly to tell folks that they cant emulate something they heard b4. This is the very nature of music production.
If we werent trying to do something we heard b4 we would never pick up that guitar or buy that DAW.

Nobody tells a guitarist to make a different instrument because Jimmy Hendrix already played a guitar.

But that being said, do try and SOUND like you. Regardless of which sounds or patches u use, make them your own.

If it's fun, do it. If someone just likes to make tracks which sound like Datsik, do it. Why would you not want to do the thing which is the most fun for you (provided it doesn't hurt anyone blah blah)? Maybe they'll find their own sound, maybe they won't. Who cares. Do what makes you happy. Most amateur tunes are hardly Mozart or Schubert anyway, so what's the point in intellectualising everything.

But taking the patch and making it your own = progress.
And you can break the patch down, and try to see what affects the sound, and how it affects it. Can be very helpful :W:
Most people don't.

maybe this will shut some kids asking for datsik sounds up though....no...no it wont..
brilliant.
why dont the mods start a patch bank part of the forum so that the people who just want to sound like everyone else go on and get out and people stop bitching about them?

Some people will learn from opening a preset and some won't. Why does it matter?

This! :h:

I'm just gonna leave this gem of knowledge for the general public,

People always have so much to say about what everyone else is doing as if they can do a damn thing about it! You can't! IF you don't like it, too bad! In general, if you can't learn anything from example ( with anything, not just presets ) maybe you're on some sorta god-like ill skills level shit to where it shouldn't bother. So many people are just plain 'ol hating because you they have anything else to do but troll HARD! Maybe you guys should be working on your craft or listening to dubstep instead of wasting everybody else's time.

To the OP, thanks for the contribution. I've been looking for new sounds to mess that'll contrast to what I've been working with. I'll see what this brings for me.

See I always assumed that when people download patches like this the point was to edit expand and process them further??? Whats the problem? If you are just using other peoples work without putting any of yourself into it then your only cheating yourself.

^ This

Taking a sound and working it to sound different is also part of experimenting.
As long as you don`t just reuse the same patch I can`t see why having an interesting starting point is not going to be a good thing?
Using the patch to strip down and learn Massive.
Using the patch to learn modulation.
etc.

It all depends what level you`re at and whether you will use the patch.
If you won`t use it, or don`t want to then don`t DL it.

I won`t be using it but I still see the value in providing patches.

Yeah, I learned alot by breaking down patches, experimenting etc.. :)
But not everyone will learn that way, people are different :)
