In 1956 in USA there was segregation, and lynching of black people was common. In the UK they made a video showing the plight of West-Indian immigrants where they used the word "negro". No moral high ground indeed.

But even your use of the word 'worse' implies there was even the slightest bit of racism there. The mayor of Lambeth was saying we have a shortage of houses so maybe we could cap the amount of people moving in here. He was not saying "We hate Jamaicans. Jamaicans out of Lambeth!"

Believe or don't believe, does it really make a difference to you or me? Of course not.
From my point of view (and yes, this is very philosophical) I don't believe anything 100% (if belief can even be expressed as a percentage) unless I have witnessed it myself.
