@ruiari89
Love the drum sounds. One tip: while it's good to have variation in the drum patternt o keep it interesting, I find that making it too varied prevents a real groove from getting established. The second two bars of that four-bar loop could be changed a bit to sound more similar to the first two. The sanre drums were throwing me off a bit. Other than that it's pretty good!
Here's my latest, just finished it last night:

I guess this is progressive house--though I'm never sure what genre my songs are. Dunno if I'm doing something wrong, I'm brand new to this board.

EDIT: Totally forgot to review one. @Benq: The intro is just a little bit long for me. But that could just be me. Love the drums.

Fairly new to the producing realm. Only been going about a year and a half.

Re: Feedback Thread
Phrex, everything you make seems to be really well produced and I really can't give any constructive feedback to be honset, i really like how your stuff sounds. That most recent thing is great, I really like it.
hutyluty, the last two tracks sound pretty cool. The first one isn't really my cuppa, but production sounds pretty top notch. The second one isn't exactly housey heh, but sounds cool. The ominous bass sound really reminds me of Angel by Massive Attack.
tunabomber, i reallllly like that main synth. Really nice and clean. The beat's great too, not just your standard 4x4. Nice work. Much like phrex, not much to say about the track, I just like it haha.
Here's my latest. Just had a couple of ideas and made it all quite quickly, so looking for feedback, see what people think on how it sounds etc.

Re: Feedback Thread
@Horus - really nice reverb on tgat metallic percussive sound throughout the intro. That siren in the background is wicked to. Perhaps could be turned up ever so slightly? I amn't really a fan of the kick drum , too much reverb for me! The vocals throughout are really good I think, vox can either make or break a track in my opinion. ANd i always struggle to find good vocals/samples to give a track that more organic feel that vocals give. I like the toms that you brought in at around the 5 minute mark. It needs that variation in percussion to keep the track moving as its quite long. Those glitchy hats at the end are a bit off putting personally, feels like a jumping record! Good track though, makes me think of typical minimal club style.
And now, here's one of mine! Finsihed it about 1 month ago, feels like it still isnt a fully finished mix and could do woth some variation! ANY (and i mean, ANY!) ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i'd eq a little bit the kick. or maybe it's a 1db or 2db too loud? something isn't quite right with the kick imho...
i like the progression(~sec 50)...
nice bassline!
are you lowcutting every channel? (high hats too) it all sounds a liiittle bit muddy...
imh the hihats would work better if less volume or not 1/16th but 1/8th offbeat. (try and judge foryourself - of course YOU have to like it, not me)....
nice work with the vocals.....
eq the snare in the background.... (i think this is one thing making it a bit muddy.... lowcut it!)
the idea and the progression are ace. you got it!
nice on and keep it comin'!
of course htis critique is just my opinion over my system. doesn't have to count at all!

sick tune juan. everything's spot on.
but not really feelin the commands remix. you should have just picked a couple of samples from the tunes, not the whole singing imho. maybe I'm just too biased because I've heard the original too many times (one of my fav soul tunes)...
Re: Feedback Thread
thanks buddy - you are right about the edit... thought so to after finishing it up... should have chopped it much more (as heard after about minute 3)... well.. i'm still in the long process of learning.. haha

Re: Feedback Thread
Righty oh.... Started a thread in here without seeing this so appologies there.
Before I dish out my feedback I feel I need to explain myself to you:
Really new to production so I won't be getting technical in my criticism, I am sorry if I mistake an element of your tracks for a different element (eg. confusing rimshots and snares and stuff like that). I will try to be as honest as possible with my feedback.
@vulvavibration
Slip inside is lush, love how the cymbals and other hats come in to the intro. dunno how to describe what I mean hear but I will try: I found the intro felt a little claustrophobic dunno how you would change it though. As for that commands track, really like it. the kick is perfect, the song as a whole flows beautifully and love all the intricate sounds comming through. Big ups man.
@Dubloke- Nothing negative to say, top notch track and that bass
spot on.
@ Fmx- Not 100% sure about the kick, seems a little overpowering, the synth is really nice though. I think the snare could do with being turned up a bit cos it seems to get burried at times. Really funky track though.
@ horus- your intro is beautifull, the samples and bass work really well, love your imaginative use of (what to me sounded like) a cowbell. Only real crit I have is that the echoey sounds could come down a bit and the beats and the bass be given a bit more space.
@hutyluty- Verb on the intro is really nice. really like the way the snare/rimshot??? comes into play too. I proper vibe off of this track, big ups.
@tunabomber- like the drums in this track, reminds me of a housey take on the amen break. Only real crit I have is perhaps having the intro slowly fading in, in volume just to give it an extra dimension.
@ airgonaut- not sure about this one. I like the drum pattern but think the synth is too loud, the bass works though. The idea is good but not sure if it works on the whole.
@ Benq- That intro is simply stunning, love the kick with the sustained sub behind it! The vocal samples are subtle and perfect and the bass is perfect. This track is way way advanced in terms of what I know about production, really technical and my favourite on this page
And now for my effort:
It isn't perfect but I feel it is an honest attempt:

Hey all,
We're liking the tracks so far, theres tons of variety - we will spend more time actively listening later today when we can give feedback.
Don't know where to start so...
Finished this one last night, kind of a deeper house type feel...no compression yet...waiting for a vocalist i have lined up to do some vocals - but in the meantime we'd love some criticism.
Thanks for starting this thread too.

Really digging this one and the previous one. iirc I listened to some of your tunes a while ago and they never impressed me as much as these tunesvulvavibration wrote: Soundcloud

@KingDub
I like this one a lot as well, the only thing I can put my finger on is that the drums are a bit "choppy" at times, which imo doesn't really fit with the chill, kinda "fluid" vibe of the tune.
Re: Feedback Thread
check my sig please, deep house tip . I'll return the favour! (even though my expertise on production, especially house, are limited at best)

love the reverb-drenched sound throughout. Very Mt Kimbie-esque. May I ask how you made it?joeki wrote:check my sig please, deep house tip . I'll return the favour! (even though my expertise on production, especially house, are limited at best)
I didn't really like the way you turn up the vocals right before the music ends, maybe you ought to try turning them up before, or not at all.
Here's a house tune I made a couple of days ago. Feedback would be much appreciated

Re: Feedback Thread
@synpadub
I LOVE the rhythm of that track. The super-deep drums and subbass work excellently. One complaint is that there isn't enough high-end to the track. That siren is a nice way of tying all the sections together, but playing around with some vocal snippets would make the parts more interesting. One thing I like to do is cut out super-short samples of people singing vowels (aaah, eeeeh, etc.) and use those as atmospheric instruments. Lastly, the break in the middle is a bit too long, and needs some more variety (as well as a harder hit when the drums come back).
@KindDub
I'd suggest bringing the kick level down juuust a bit, and also making some small edits to the shufflinf hats in the background. When they drop out on the third beat it sort of stutters, and considering the overall deep-house feel, you want something that's a nice, steady groove with no breaks in it. Other than that, nice work.
@Ayatollah
I like the melody, and it's got a nice sort of disco feel to it. However, you'll probably want to rethink the vocal samples and siren-type lead you have. With both of them going at the same time there is just too much going on in the track (especially since you're not using a sub-bass, which almost gives you a third melody). Generally you'll want to have only one or the other going at once, with some exceptions. I also don't think the nature of the bass you're using really fits with the aesthetic of the track, maybe play around with different sounds a bit.
Here's the newest bit I made. Got inspired by a friend's music, and decided to go on a more sunshiney house tip (since it's been raining like crazy for the past week now where I live), while still sticking to the sub-bass and syncopated snares I know and love.
