Re: BREAKING BAD!!!!!
This thread got me to watch Breaking Bad, which I loved. Restored faith in televsion somewhat.
Moved onto The Wire, 7 episodes in and it's a completely different ballgame to BB. Much more serious/intense and dialogue filled, gotta pay more attention but there's much more detail there.

Re: BREAKING BAD!!!!!
I'm re-watching The Wire and am three episodes into the final season. I think i've decided it's my favourite TV series ever.
The plot is just so intricate and well thought out. Everything ties in so nicely and shows the machinations of modern society - from the corner boys to the police to the teachers to the media, all under pressure to meet targets and preform on paper at the cost of genuine improvement.
While The Sopranos previously held the top spot for me, it's more focused on the workings of a criminal organisation, the criminal mind and family life. That's all well and good but The Wire, I feel, reflects modern society and it's problems so, so well.
Breaking bad is top notch entertainment but comes about forth on my list after The Wire, The Sopranos and I, Claudius.
(I recommend I, Claudius to anyone who likes a bit of telly you can get your teeth into. Plus it's got an all star cast - Patrick Stewart, Brian Blessed, Derek Jacobi, Siân Phillips and John Hurt...)
Sorry for the slight derail.
Back OT.. BREAKING BAD!! WOOOOO!!

I know it's obvious, but we've been waiting too long for this. Massive spoiler warnings please if the plot is mentioned.

A bit of a slow start, apart from the thing Gus did and the very end, not much happened at all.

Up to the 4th season and they still have the same level of suspense.

Re: BREAKING BAD!!!!!
Just finished the first 3 episodes of season 1. I'm actually kind of shocked I like it, Cranston is brilliant in this. The pilot seemed like it had the entire plot of a movie in it but moved at such a pace it fit so well and left me wanting more. So glad I've found another TV show to get stuck into. No doubt I'll be starting season 2 tomorrow
