Re: Spor - Pacifica
Good question... personally i don't understand why so many artists redefine themselves under a new name when making a new style. As if their fans are so closed minded that if the artist were to step out of his comfort zone they would be bitter towards them for it... Perhaps i'm misreading why an artist creates a new pseudonym - perhaps it's just for the fun of starting back at the bottom as far as marketing is concerned.
but I say RE define the style people see you as having shaped (or having ripped off
). Personally when an artist goes in a completely new direction (even if it doesn't work out...) i commend them for trying because it's a thousand times better than just conforming to what the mass public wants for the sake of attention.
It almost looks like a kind of insurance to me, to make a new pseudonym as an artist... as if they were hedging their bets when making a career move like producing a new style. As if to say "well if it fucking sucks at least most people won't know it was me". Shit you might as well make a new name every time you put out an album!
i still hate skrillex though... even if i do respect him.
