Hyetal - Broadcast LP [Black Acre]

Post by Motorway to Roswell » Sun May 08, 2011 6:50 pm

I know there's a thread for this in the 'House' forum but might as well have one here too. I was a bit apprehensive about this. I was expecting really clean, cheesy 80s influenced stuff. Listened through today and was pleasantly surprised.

Feels like it's come straight out of the 80's. Lovely lofi textures and sounds. Gorgeous synths and melodies. Big reverbed drums etc. Sounds bloody brilliant. Somewhere between Vangelis, the Miami Vice theme and The Jesus & Mary Chain and yet it still sounds fresh.

Only bad thing I have to say about it at this time is about the vinyl release. Bit lame to have only half the album on it.

I hadn't even heard of Hyetal until recently when I saw that Boddika had done a remix of Diamond Islands, so I decided to check out the original version of the song and was completely floored by how great it is. Bought the LP and it's fantastic. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on Hyetal.

I don't think the vinyl even comes with a DL code which put me right off shelling out for it. I love buying vinyl but I also like getting a full album. Will be purchasing though as it's a strong album.
