Chris Shively aka Murderbot aka Chrissy Murderbot — DJ, producer, label owner, Chicago resident and rave encylopedia. He came to many people’s attention for his tearing jungle productions on Bananas NYC, Mashit and Dead Homies around 2005, but has since capitalized on his undying love for—and ridiculously detailed knowledge of—all things rave. Never one to pigeonhole himself, Murderbot defines his style as ‘juke-rave-jungle-disco-tropical-hi-NRG-gangsta-dancehall-ghetto-garage-core’, and it’s within these constraints he has carved himself a status as one of dance music’s most exciting DJs and producers.
We're extremely excited to party with Chrissy Murderbot at Tammany Hall in celebration of his debut release for Planet Mu, Women's Studies.
The album is a breakneck journey through the many dance waters that Chrissy has explored alternatingly since 1995: blistering footwork production, razor sharp quasi-jungle breaks, dancehall tendencies, and virtually every other trick up his sleeve. And dudes got long sleeves.
It's a raging and vigorous paean to dance musics of all sorts, to the party, and - in general - to letting loose and having a good time.
