@ kidstrange: like where you are going with this... needs to progress more, but I like the atmosphere of the tune so far. Nice sounds, drums are crisp and clean... good job

@ z6z: too chill for me to comment on this clip. But the drums sound good, and the atmospherics are nice.

@ adover: needs bass... drums need to be cleaned and spread out wider... Otherwise, nice concepts, appropriate progression, got a nice old school vibe IMO. Liking the part after the second break. Nice melody. Fix that mix, and you might have something pretty decent!

@ yoitsfrankd: Nice synths man, like both drops. Mix sounds fairly clean. Maybe just a little too much in the mids, but over all solid. I like it

Anyway, this is the new one from TDBZ and me. What do you guys think? Hear anything that needs fixing?

A song i was working on over the weekend I had some ideas i wanted to use. This time i put alot more effort into it ( I wanted a more complex sound), using automations and stuff in fruity loops, pretty much just trying everything i dont really use more drum and bass practicing

Somethings might be a bit too loud or off because it lacks mastering.

Oh and this isnt finished i faded out the drums at the end because i dont like things ending randomly.

@ctang - i like the bass sound very nice and dnb for a change i would personally add more grit on the bassline but its good overall

@ BeastModeForDummies and yoitsfrankd : The snare is just some random Vengeance sample. No layering on it yet (but I plan on adding a snap layer over the top of it still). No problem sending it to you, if you want it, you've got it. As for the kick, I can't give it to you, but I'll give you a tip instead: The reason it hits like it does (and it will be even better once I mix it down proper), is because it hits at the same time as a sub note that's at the same frequency. You can take just about any short deep kick and do something similar for a starting point. Get it right and it will kick people in the teeth on a big system.

@ Mannnyyyyy : Yeah... haven't done anything with the mix yet, just arrangement work so far, no EQ's on anything at this point. That's said, I wonder if you're hearing the same thing I've been hearing. It's like a misplaced distortion frequency that's really prominent on the downbeat right after the break. I'm not sure I'll be able to get rid of it, but I'm sure as hell gonna try. lol. Problem is I like the sound to much to replace it, so if I can't get rid of it, it stays.

@ BeastModeForDummies : Right now we're thinking Betamorph for this tune and two more like it (that are yet to be written). So maybe a release sometime late this summer. But we'll be giving out a few mp3 320's after the master is in in about two weeks. Check the Dubs page for a TDBZ post soon, and hit him up. To be clear, Betamorph hasn't said yes to this, it's just the label we plan to shop it to as of this moment.

edit: woops, forgot to review... Mannnyyyyy : track sounds very good. Wish I had your patches to work with Not so hot on that sound generally speaking, but part of the reason why I'm not hot on it is that I can't make it yet... My only comment on the mix is maybe the snare needs to be longer, totally just an IMO statement, because there is nothing wrong with it as is. I'd just like it better if it had a longer tail (either actual tail or big ass ridonculous reverb). Also, maybe some atmospherics to fill out the background of the song - probably not necessary, again just an IMO kind of thing.

@ Mannyyyyy man this sounds really nice, sick dirty wobbles and those gunshots samples really makes this track crazy, maybe you could just turn up the volume on the hats and maybe add some background melodies or something

@ ctang really like the beat,sounds pretty proper, but the main bass could really use more volume and some eq on the low end i think.

Working on a dubstep remix on a house track, i think i pretty much nailed the first drop, so what do you think?

@Mannnyyyyy - Sounds veryy datsik'y. Has great agro basslines but needs to be beefed up with moar sub. Mos definitely sounds good so far.

then intros good, loving all the metallic/mechanic sounding fx, tweak the piano sounds a bit , don't quite fit when they first come in they sound dissonant but not in a good way, the big wub maybe needs pitching down a tad and turning down a bit as well, also work on its structuring unless your not fussed about being dj friendly. otherwise its an absolutely brilliant track pal well done

Turn your gun samples down a little bit pal, have your drums hit harder definitely, try layer your drum samples to have them hit harder, make your midrange sound a bit cleaner and crisper. its a really good effort though mate keep it up!

nice riff at the start, good buildup mate, the only stuff i could say is maybe a bit sparse in terms of pads and incidentals, your cymbal crash sounds a bit cheap as well, the rest is mixing related but im assuming your working on that.

@ Mannyyyyy - Sounds cool, very DatsiK kinda style as sirminus is saying, definitely something you should continue on.

@ Cheeky - Interesting sounds, not really my cup of tea though. And I think you should put some more variation into it.

@ Sirminus - Sounds very nice, love the basslines. A more filthy drop and you have a banger, imo!

This is my WIP - I am getting this "rumbling" bass sound in the background of my lead bassline and it really annoys me. Any of you guys have an idea on how to fix that?

@cryokenisis - the bass drop is pretty dope, but i think you should have some sort of build up maybe like a lp'd snare or something. other than that sounds pretty full.

@a5hl3y2k6 - your track has a really chill yet dirty feel, really diggin it

@Mannyyyyy - soooo sickkk dude, that patch at .08 is ridic idk how you got that out of a vocoder but what a raw patch. if you wanna know how i make anything id be more than happy to exchange some patches for it

@kushamane - Good work, man. I instantly thought of Skrillex's remix of Benny Benassi's Cinema when that shit dropped. If I were you, I would filthy that shit up, just my opinion. But overall great work!

So I've eq'ed n filtered it and I've fixed the annoying-rumbling-background-bass sound and made tons of other changes. Tell me what you think so far:

@stealth elf - likin the ideas behind it. Think it sounds a bit empty at times, might just be coz im not gettin much sub on my monitors though. that pad sound that comes in every now and again could come forward in the mix and be more prominent.

@danimal - interesting stuf mate, very chiptune to begin with. yeah it does have flow to it, you build it up nicely. Not sure if im feelin the wobble that comes in at the break, could have a bit moer weight to it otherwise the tunes a bit empty. love the samples though theyre wicked.

@JL productions - yeh this is rinsin, that relentless bass. Kick needs more power. The only thing i could say is it needs more fx and accidentals to keep it interesting. cant really say much else about it.

@fluid motion - i wasnt sure i liked it straight out, but my god its a builder. I guess i wasnt too sure about the sounds at first, but it works so well at 1.06 interacting with other synth that i endded up lovin it. think the oringisnal synth line could do with some automation on it, maybe filters etc. to get it sounding class. However, the composition and arrangement of the tune are spot on. Its cool and original.

@yofrankd - sounding good, you got a nice groove going with that wobble. not usually my sort of thing, but i cant fault its a good tune. Finish this one off. Get drums soudning punchier and bring forward a bit i think, but gonna be cool once its done. likin the funny lttle voice sample nice touch.


Im workin on this, still needs the drums editing so theyre not jsut the same all way thru, but i just took out loads of elements and now think it sounds empty, let me know what you think
