Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
yeah so how do i make the wobble sound in this tune? I'm pretty close just need a few tweaks.

I'm also stuck on the automation both rate and filer that goes on, it sounds simple but i cant seem to nail it.

Square wave. lowpass filter and lfo. sounds like it has some reverb on aswell
When you say you're stuck on the automation rate & filter, how do you mean? The LFO rate in the example you've posted seems to be fairly standard, so I'd recommend either automating your LFO to switch up/down as the track progresses, or else bounce out examples of the bass w/ wobble at lots of different speeds (1, 2, 4, 8, 16 etc) then chopping up each bassline and creating a cut & paste of the samples in the playlist editor, so that it switches seamlessly between the speeds.
(This technique will also reduce processing power as a nice aside, as you're dealing with audio clips instead of having to keep the instrument itself active.)
In terms of the filter, that is going to be trail and error. It does sound to be lowpass, but in terms of getting exactly right what you are hearing, that will vary greatly depending on how close to the original sound you have achieved with your synth programming.
Can I ask what DAW/synth/filter you're currently using to try & emulate this?

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
thanks, yeah i'm using thor in reason, by the rate i mean when it gets faster and theres like a slow wooooob, then fast one twice, haha kind of hard to explain.
Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Ok, then it'll be the LFO rate you're referring to. There is a thread about varying the LFO rate in Reason here - http://www.dubstepforum.com/varying-lfo ... 42988.htmlCookieMonster wrote:thanks, yeah i'm using thor in reason, by the rate i mean when it gets faster and theres like a slow wooooob, then fast one twice, haha kind of hard to explain.
From what I understand, you can make the LFO rate tweakable in real time by linking it your MIDI controller (if you have one), or drawing in the automation lane (if you don't).
Both techniques are explained in detail in that thread I have linked to. The video that is contained within is sadly no longer available, but I did find a similar one on YouTube that seems to cover wobble bass within Thor that you might find useful;

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
cheers dude but i dont think you understand, i'm not a noob to all this i understand automation lfo's, etc, but i want the pacific setting for the wobble bass in this track, like were i place the dots on the automation lane, and what rate is set at, i've been ask to do a remix of it and i need the pacific setting for this track as the artist is on holiday i'm not able to contact him, i just thought maybe some one more experienced than myself could work it out.

You could try posting what you've got so far vs. what you're trying to acheive to see if anyone can give an insight into exact settings. Failing that, until you can get ahold of the guy for the specific settings, it'll be trial & error.

Its skrillex and im not asking bout the bass recreation, but bout the synths that quickly appear at 0.52. Those sound so damn fat to me I must know how to make them, I tried various combinations with instrument rack/operator and massive in ableton, but I only came a litlle close to getting a ''STRINGSTHATSOUNDLIKESHITISGOINGTOGODOWNOOOHSSHHI-''-synth. Any thoughts on how to properly remake sound remnisicent of what I posted would be great

I love that song so I did some work trying to recreate that synth in Logic Pro's ES2 synthesizer and I think I did pretty well. I can post a tutorial if you like, or if you don't have Logic I could try to recreate it in Massive and make a tutorial of that.Sine69 wrote:I guess I'll kick this off.
I want to make the sound in Blood Red by Feed Me that starts at :56. I'm a noob at production, and I'm sure that there's an easy way to do it, but I can't seem to find it out![]()
I have Massive and Razor, if that helps![]()
What I did wasn't too complicated though. I used a sine wave + 2 saw waves (NOT detuned at all), mixed 50% sine and 50% saws. I ran these all through a Band Pass filter at a high-mid frequency (this changes though as the riff progresses) with 75% resonance. However, the most important thing that I did which might just be the only really accurate part of the re-creation was routing the Volume/Amp of the synth into an LFO that is beat-synced and running on a sine wave at a rate of 1/32 note. This creates the sort of "bity" part of the synth. If you listen to the track carefully, it sounds like this LFO changes rates throughout the riff.
Let me know if that helps. I don't think that there is a Bitcrusher or any other kind of Distortion used but you can try them out and see if you disagree.
P.S. I'd also be very interested in seeing how to re-create that synth from the Xilent song, that's a beastly track.

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Does Anyone know how to make the combination of synths at the drop at 1:08? This sound is so unique and have been searching for months on how to create it, any ideas? Or if anyone can point me in the right direction all help is appreciated! THanks! Cheers

That's the most useful answer ever.ChadDub wrote:Lol that's not unique, it's just a simple Massive patch.
When someone comes up with a question, let's just say: LOL that's not unique, it's just a simple massive patch!
Did you do any research on this except for asking?xsimplyfilthx wrote:Would you happen to know where i could find that patch, if not what that type of synth is called (reese??), and if you cant find the patch would you know how to create it?ChadDub wrote:Lol that's not unique, it's just a simple Massive patch.
Not trying to be a dik here, but the first video that came up after searching "Create a dirty dubstep synth" handles this 'unique' bassline.

There it is. Now, if you still can't figure out how to make it DM me, I got some advanced patches on my PC, but I'm pretty busy with college and stuff so it might take a while before I get to you.
Good luck!

The bass that pitches downwards in this, the sort of Weeeeeeeooooooow
Is that chorused detuned squares or is that some sort of Sine run through a filter or FM synthesis? It sounds pretty simple really but I think used in some of the ideas im working with in my tunes at the moment it could really make them hard hitting

how would you make the bass sound on kutz-travelling http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... k=SJR20812 (couldnt find a youtube video) i managed to get sort of close using a sine wave thats distorted and got a sine shaper on it, but it sounds far too thin and when i try to beef it up its looses the sounds im after
Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Rynsa Man is a grime producer from Birmingham, but some of his music is bordering, or is dubstep. Alongside Skream, Digital Mystiks, and Sukh Knight, he has many of the the best dutty dubstep bass sounds I've heard. I've nearly finished a song, and all it needs is a low gritty bass sound, and I can't really make a low growly sound so I need help.

I'm working on a simplistic 8 bar grime instrumental track, and I need a low growly dutty bass to finish it off. Listening to it, the bass I'm looking for should replace the strings.
Soundcloud
^^ the track is available, i think the iframe is cached on my computer as i've just publicised it ^^
