Slightly experimental dubstep
Hi, I'm a relatively new producer, only been at it a couple of months, but I like to think I am progressing. My latest track is slightly experimental for me, so I really appreciate any feedback you're willing to give me. Please don't hold back, but be constructive. Thanks in advance.

Re: Slightly experimental dubstep
Some quick thoughts: I dig the vibe here. I liked the midrange better at the beginning than throughout the entire track--maybe go in a more lo-fi, verbed out, set back in the mix kinda sound w/ those yois/barks? The kick kicks nicely and I like the snares/sticks--try putting them all on a send w/ some appropriate reverb and make them sound like they are sitting together in the same space. Is the sub right under the midrange (mimicking it?). I'd rearrange that a bit and have some sub hits where the midrange drops out.

ok so your drums are lacking in power, well everything is pretty much lacking in power. your kick sounds like like a tom? try working on structure- add more contrasting sections with more or less drum fills and maybe faster moving wobbles. you can change the 'speed' of the song easily without changing the tempo. listen to some good artists and try modeling stuff off them (like drum patterns and wobble patterns) until you get a decent hang of it. also (idk what programs you use) but look up how to make heavier wobbles specific to the materials you have.

You got some nice sounds going here for sure. I'd say to try experimenting with swing / Programing drums without a grid, they sound a bit stiff to me. Keep it up!
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious shit.

To Medik, thanks for the advice, I'll try that, the kick was in a pack of distorted kicks, but the pack's not very good, so I'll look for more, and for my wobbles I used Massive for the talking bass and Sytrus for the slightly cleaner sounding bass, would you be able to link me to any good tutorials for making heavier basses with those? Especially Massive, because I'm trying to learn how to use it well at the moment, I was only using Sytrus because it was my first VST and I knew how to do a few things with it. I'll give your track a listen whenever I get the time, but as you can probably tell from the late reply I don't have much time at the moment, should be later today though.
To the get down, that's probably because I use FL studio and I was using the step sequencer, but I'll give that a go, thanks.
